Anybody going to watch another League 2 game this afternoon? I might go for Crawley Town v Carlisle United followed by Leyton Orient v Harrogate Town (or Newport County v Port Vale)
Crawley were excellent in the last game I watched them when they beat Tranmere Rovers 4-0 at home especially Jack Powell and Jake Hesketh (24) (on loan from Southampton) in midfield and Tom Nichols up front. Tranmere were poor and it was no surprise that Michael Jackson was sacked shortly afterwards.
Had a chuckle at this comment from a Tranmere fan after the game.
“If you actually look at the squad it stands comparison with most of the current challengers. However there is an elephant in the room. A number of that 22 are not physically up to this brutal level of football. You can get away with maybe one or two in the side but when you have two 5ft 6-7" central midfielders, the centre of defence is going to be exposed in the air and in the tackle. Add lightweights* like Khan, O’ Connor, and the great enigma, Morris and you create little as you need to win the ball first.”
* = I think this is a literal use of the term "lightweight" rather than having little impact on the game although it could be both! (See previous Stagsnet debate
