In his post match interview GC stated that There were one or two concerns about Mal’s well being. After contacting the doctor, they were advised to leave him behind and he was now being looked after by the doctor.
That seems an odd turn of phrase to me and not an indication of an injury. I don’t think Mal has been settled for some time and hope this is nothing serious.
If you are reading this Mal, we all know what a great player you are and wish you a speedy recovery so we can cheer you on again. You are a true Stag’s legend.

I wonder if it is a coincidence that he looked great under two progressive, 'arm around the shoulder' type coaches in Murray and Flitcroft, but seems to struggle under Sgt Major types like Evans and Coughlan?
I've been a big fan of Mal over the years and genuinely think he is one of the best left backs we have had in my 30 odd years.
Hopefully for Mal, it is not a mental health issue and hopefully whatever it is, he can be get back to doing what he does best in a Stags shirt.
For the rest of us, maybe we should remind ourselves that it's not ok to abuse players. Offer a rational and fair crititique of their performance, but no need to attack them on a personal level.

Really hoping Mal is okay, he has been a great servant to this club.
Worrying to hear these comments from GC.

I think so, just a weird way to say it... also saying he’d watch Sinclair develop from near or far was a hint that he’s had a vote confidence?

There haven't been any fans there to barate him for the last 8 months. I suspect this is more about his physical wellbeing.

I have now watched GC’s interview in full as opposed to reading the summary. I now think when he refers to Mal’s well being, he is talking about a report on his health as opposed to his mental state which shows the original report probably used the term out of context.
I am much more at ease with the situation than last night and now wonder if he has an illness. I still don’t think it is an injury as GC was obviously going to play Mal last night.
Whatever it is I wish Mal a speedy recovery and hope he is fit and well soon.

A fit Mal should be in the starting 11.

How have you managed to come to that conclusion from that comment? Honestly that’s confused me

I think he was saying that he would be interested in watching Sinclair’s development whether he was the manager of MTFC or not. I think he was just acknowledging that his position was precarious but that he still had an interest in the player.

I've seen a few people say the same
CG clearly meant whether Sinclair gets regular game time short term or a further along in the season. He was essentially saying if Clarke and Lapsile had been available, Smith and Sinclair wouldnt have featured. (i know smith didnt feature, but he mentioend him)

I dont think he was saying that whatsoever.

i actually thought he was having a dig at the powers that be, throughout the interview.
in essence saying he wanted more players, to give him cover and he hasn't been allowed them. So we have to reply on the kids
The quotes around a make shift defence, and having kids on the bench spring to mind.
Back on topic about Mal, I just think he is having a few personal issues and GC didn't quite know how to say something, with out saying something directly...... ifyou get my drift

Let’s all hope that Mal is feeling better soon, no matter what his issues are. If they are to do with mental health, maybe the nasty insults hurled at our players might need to be reduced a bit ?

Unless it’s the same sort of injury that Danny Rose had involving a transfer.
Not in the know, just speculation on my part.

He might just have symptoms of Covid but the club don't want to say as such in case he returns a negative test because then he'll be able to play on Saturday. If they announce it then he would be expected to isolate for 10-14 days even if it's negative like Rooney has had to.
