If they will go up it'll be barmy. Theyve looked nowhere near good enough for promotion when I've seen them play (apart from tonight). They're very effective from set pieces but I don't think their football is owt to shout about. I thought Cheltenham had a much better season imo and will probably be a big threat next season

Cheltenham really did look like a side who thought they'd booked themselves a Wembley trip. They just had no answer to Northampton being fast and fierce in the tackle. That young Morton upfront ran his socks off, 2 opportunistic goals and a host of chances where he perhaps made the wrong decision, he looks a real prospect and I'd never heard of him before this evening.
Hard to believe we have finished miles behind this lot in the playoffs, we can never afford another season like last!

Incredible comeback from Northampton. Totally bullied Cheltenham out of it.
Northampton are not pretty on the eye, but my word they are effective when they pump balls into the box.

The scourge of finishing fourth in League 2.
Cheltenham looked the best of the four playoff teams the other night. Northampton steamrolled them. The third goal summed their night up.

"2-0 is a dangerous scoreline."
Congratulations to Keith Curle's Cobblers. Northampton were fast out of the traps and got the early goal with a Vadaine Oliver header from a Nicky Adams cross from the right. He should have scored a second just before half time. Cheltenham just never got going and struggled to get their passing game going. 20 year old Callum Morton on loan from West Brom was fantastic up front for Northampton. He never stopped running all night (make a note GC) and scored Northampton's 2nd goal with a fortunate deflection off his head from a corner and then followed up well when Michael Harriman pounced on a defensive error by Will Boyle. Michael Duff looked shell shocked and did not seem to know what to do to change the game. Their best chance was probably a Ryan Broome shot that went narrowly wide just before half time. They also had the best defensive record in the EFL before tonight! (27 goals conceded from 36 games)

Ryan Bowman scored the winning goal for Exeter City against Col U. He scored Hereford's goal in the 8th minute on 16th April 2013 on that unforgettable night at Edgar Street. Sam Clucas and Marley Watkins were also in that Hereford team.
Alex Fisher and Vadaine Oliver also get to play in a League 2 Play Off Final which I never saw happening. Both signed by Paul Cox in 2014 along with Rakish Bingham who played for Donny Rovers in League 1 last season.

Good luck to Exeter tonight. Northampton are even worse than Tranmere were last season.

Would like Exeter to win but I think Northampton will bully them out of it.

Alex Fisher and Vadaine Oliver are both starting for teams on a League Two play off final. I feel very bad for not rating the signing of Bowery now! Just goes to show a ‘top striker’ is now always needed.
I know Exeter have Bowman but Cobblers top scorers have 8 league goals.

That lad on loan from West brom looked handy against Cheltenham, if Northampton go up it will be absolutely barmy imo.

Exeter just can not handle all these Northampton crosses. Just shows the value of having a lot of big lads in your team.

Lincoln proved as much last year! Think we’ll be adopting a similar style to them, hopefully to the same effect!
Would have preferred Exeter to go up, but they’re well off the pace today. Unbelievable that Northampton look like doing it, they’re so incredibly average from open play.

Exeter haven't laid a glove on them, same as Cheltenham. That bowman chance was hilarious, wasn't he the player who went down holding his face when Preston gave him a little push earlier in the season? Cheating git.
Exeters best chance was nearly the own goal, seems a long way to come back for them but anything can happen I suppose

And that would never have happened if the season hadn't been interrupted. They were in free fall before that and would probably have finished bottom half.
