We have always been a mid table 4th division club.
We've had our glory days of league 2/3.
We had the chance last year and this to have another glory year and we failed.
Over 50 tears (won't change that to years) of supporting the stags.
Glad we are not non league and gutted we failed.
Gutted we won't get the chance to beat county or the sheep next season to make it all worth while.
I'm here to the end no matter how we do.

Massive shock, best season for ages and ok yes it was a great disappointment to miss out on promotion in the toothless way we did bu t I thought DF was worth another go.
Good luck JD as you are going to need it with the pressure of your very first season in league management..
I do hope it works out but I like many others have grave doubts.

Not what I wanted but we are where we are.
I think it’s a bit disrespectful to keep referring to JD as the cheap option. I don’t think anyone would argue with the fact he has done a great job with the Academy and as in any business you reward your talent or lose them.
The alternative is to recycle failure elsewhere.
Let’s get behind JD and treat him with the respect he deserves.
Looking forward to the press conference

I will reserve judgement until the back up team is announced.
If we go down the same route as AM then I will be concerned.

JR has stated his ambition to reach the championship. He has backed this up with considerable investment in every aspect of the club and is currently undertaking ground improvements and a hotel. He has also spent large amounts of money on the training centre making Mansfield one of the most progressive clubs in the league.
JR is a proven businessman and is nobody's fool.
Some seem to think he has given up his interest in the club and will be selling up soon. If that is the case why would he halt the development and give up on his ambitions?. Surely he wouldn't just stagnate the progress whilst keeping possession and ownership. If he intends to sell, the club would be much more valuable in the higher league so why waste your investment by not continuing to invest what is a small amount compared to what has gone before?.
All of the doubters need to calm down and take a deep breath. JR is a good businessman and will see us right if only to protect his investment.
Hello! Hello! We are the North Stand Boys.

I don’t think it’s disrespectful, I think it’s an honest assessment of the situation from what it looks like on the face of it.

For me the sacking and appointment etc is a little deflating, I expected another year with DF and would not have complained. Can't help having doubts re another internal promotion after the Murray and Holland debacles .
We wait and see what statements come forth over the next week or so, are we going back to the Mansfield Town FC of old or are we still on for onwards and upwards?

I'm aware that the failure is not all down to the official, but that was almost the last nail in the coffin. I guess he'll have the apology framed, and displayed alongside the other one.
Letter ?

Mr Flicroft said
pre match on Sunday that he'd received an apology from the referees association regarding the two decisions they said the ref had got wrong on Thursday.
You could argue that Thursdays ref cost Mr Flitcroft his job, maybe/possibly.
EDIT: That should read "
post match on Sunday"

Didn’t know that.

Do you have any evidence of this ? If it’s accurate then I’m amazed there’s not more being made of it.

Flitcroft was a very hard working and very decent guy although I was not a big fan and with luck he might have been issuing the retained list this week and planning for the assault on the Championship.
Football is very cruel sport these days.

very true.
I have no doubt we'd have finished 2nd without Bobby and white being injured. White is an irreplaceable win that formation and playing style.

Then why didn’t he change the formation instead of playing people out of position.
Seemed like a good guy but it is clear he had objectives this season set by JR/CR after last seasons nightmare of taking a club from 4th to 8th. He didn’t meet them, so has been let go.
He has been let down by his own tactical decisions, the basic requirement for a competent league manager.
