With the suspension of Sweeney and White being out I think we will go 442 unless Turner can prove his fitness this week. My choice would be:
..............................Smith................
Jones.........Preston ........Pearce........Benning
Grant........Mellis........Bishop..........CJ
.................Walker.........Adjose.........

Sounds like Tomlinson played very well.
Shame about Rose, as I would have liked DF to have had a bit more of a decision to make between him and Ajose, who I think , out of all Flitcrofts dealings, has plenty to prove so far.

He won't go 4 at the back.
These are my opinions , if you don't like them I have others...

I agree. He'd go with a make shift player in there over changing formation.
............Smith
Preston Chief Mal
Jones Bish Mellis CJ
..........Grant
.....Walker Ajose
Unless Tomlinson can play wing back, then maybe CJ upfront for Ajose.

Time to move CJ up front. That's where he plays best. Needs space in front of him to run into.

Assuming Turner is fit I would chuck him in for Sweeney, CJ for Ajose and Jones taking the WB slot.
Gunna be tough I reckon.

I think there is a reserve game v Morecambe on Tuesday. Only chance for Turner to prove his fitness level but from what Flitcroft said pre Newport he is unlikely to feature.
I’ve always said Flitcroft will start 3-5-2 but on this occasion I think he might go for 4-4-2 with Jones and Benning at full back positions.

This game has come at the wrong time.
We seem to be a bit out of sorts and on an inconsistent patch of form, with key players out injured and suspended.
We might not be able to play our favoured formation unless we play players out of position or shoehorn in players. Alternative is to play an unfamiliar formation.
Nicht gut.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

We need to get our midfield ticking over nicely. Bishop, Melis, Grant going to be key to unlocking their defence.

13 points from 15 before Saturday, hardly out of form.
Looking at the remaining fixtures, I'd always have Newport away as s probable loss.
Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.

Out of sorts? Are we supporting different clubs? We put 3 past Colchester, Tranmere and Macclesfield recently and got a good draw away to a promotion rival.

We're in great form. Going into the Newport game we were the form team in the division. One narrow defeat in at a ground where almost no team wins doesn't constitute being out of sorts.

Fair kop Sneag, Stagsfan6943 and Paris. Point taken.
Yes agreed. I have rewritten this post. I had forgotten that a victory Vs Macc was sandwiched between Newport and FGR. A single loss doesn't mean bad form. My fault.
We could look at form over the season and see us in 2nd and them bottom and say we'll pizz it. So I suppose using form is dependent on the time horizon you use.
Either way, this game is going to be more tricky than it looks on paper.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

We talk about form but, as the old cliché goes, the form book goes out the window for a derby.

I think it’s the perfect time. We should have a bounce back performance after the Newport loss and County’s bubble will burst I tell thee!!! Have faith. We are the better team and will win.

Mellis got a 4 in the league paper.Hamilton a 5.Grant wasn't seen second half.Newport are a tough side to break down.the poor pitch got into Flitcroft's head. Our keeper was launching the ball down our right hand side.Ajose should have hit the target from the only cross he got in.I would start with Jones and play either Ajose or CJ up top.I may even start with Tomlinson instead of Mellis. It will be interesting watching Doyle against Bishop.Should be a tough game.

I'll go with that Cass, but as AWC alludes to, it's going to be a bit fraught.
