I'd nodded off in front of the lappy (been up since 3.50am) and The One has let the fred out which is good. Being as though I taught him everything I know about fredding the fred's in good hands today
. Seems the extra lie in the fred's getting is doing it good.
It's gonna be tough though as the welsh club are on a high, but we should look at the Liverpool game in t'Conf for inspiration. Kiddy came the Saturday after and had our pants down as we were still parading as if it was still the Lord Mayor's Show.

Likewise. Forecast to rain from now until 10pm tomorrow night
it does then have the night and morning to drain a bit though until it supposedly kicks in again just before kick off, don’t want another FGR situation though. 50/50 I’d say

They might just turn it in to a beach like they did 15-16.

I think Newport are missing a trick ahead of their FA Cup game with ticketing information (
https://www.newport-county.co.uk/news/2 ... cket-info/)
They could've put a thing out like we've done in the past to boost the crowd for this weekends home game by suggesting those with a ticket for the Mansfield game would get priority prior to general sale

Just think if the game is called off at late notice i.e Saturday AM after our support is on its way it'll be like the old days of getting out the newspaper as to what football fix to get in as we'd be en route.
The closer we get to Newport and it be called off........................Forest Green Rovers are at home.........against
Notts CountyThat's be a fun alternative don't you think....

Be very tricky.. Newport has only lost once at home in the last 15 games (forest green but they had a man sent off just after HT) - great results against Leicester and middlesbrough too
Think pitch will play to there advantage - so i'll take a score draw

Newport fans not confident of it being on at all. One fan reckons there’s pools on the pitch already.

I hope they do things early. A recent game against MK DOns was called off at 1.30 on the day

Hopefully the weather forecast is accurate. If so, the match should be on. Only occasional showers between now and kickoff, with mild temperatures and strong winds. There's probably standing water at the moment but more than 24 hours to sort it out. Newport will want to rehearse their tactics on as bad a pitch as possible as that's their big advantage against Man City.
I expect that the Stags team has been training on some local park pitches to get used to conditions.

Would be quite happy with a point given the playing surface
Will need to be on our mettle defensively as balls into the box are going to be frequent

A point in the mud bath would be a real achievement.

Can't see it being on not because of the rain but high winds causing potential damage to Rodney Parade

If they dropped an atom bomb on Rodney Parade it would do anything up to fifty quids worth of damage.

If they dropped one on the Bishop St Stand it'd do 50 quid worth of improvements! People in glass houses Edders! Rodney Parade us a traditional old ground, we need to treasure these sort of places, they won't be around much longer.

I hope not. I'll be on the train by 9 a.m. anyway, and with a further 6 hours of dry weather predicted after a few scattered showers overnight I won't be happy about a hasty decision. It poured down during the Middlesborough match on an already waterlogged pitch and they played on. As long as it stays windy overnight the water from any heavy showers should clear quickly.

It'd be in the welsh's interest for it to be off imo after the gargantuan effort of Tuesday. I bet they get the sprinklers on all night.

I can't see them wanting to postpone this one. Apart from it being good practice for the Cup match they won't want fixtures piling up if they can avoid it, and a postponement always costs money. Several of their players were given a rest last weekend ready for the Middlesborough game so they'll only have had two matches in ten days before tomorrow.
Preview from a Newport pundit (I hope that their manager is similarly ill-informed);
Mansfield are up next at Rodney Parade and County do have a point or two to prove against them. They can expect a physical uncompromising encounter with their defenders pressing the game up the pitch and the key for County could be finding pace in behind. County need to stop Notts Forest loanee Tyler Walker as the majority of goals go through him and track the runs of ex-Bury forward Danny Rose.

Lets hope they track the runs of Danny Rose, and maybe double up on him, as he's warming up.
