still no real clarity on Flint other than it's not a long term absence. Perhaps just the optimist in me but I'm hoping he is able to play tomorrow having been given some decent steroid help.

Clough: "Aden Flint saw a specialist last night. Confirmed what the physio Tom thought about it, a partial dislocation, so we're not talking too long with that one. Basically it's how much discomfort he can tolerate in a game situation. There's no time frame, just see how he goes in the next week or two."

The look on Clough’s face when answering that question suggests Flint is playing.

Unless its classic kidology I doubt he will be playing. He hasn't trained all week has he?

Does he really need to? I’m sure we haven’t got a ready made replacement who will be as good as a Flint who hasn’t trained for a week half way through a season when he’s played most games.

If he wants to play, he will be in the starting 11 as Nigel will trust him to be honest about how he’s feeling.

Not as bad as first feared. I'm on google again. Full dislocation is 14-16 weeks (but can return after 2 weeks to doing most activities that wont aggravate it). As mentioned on the other thread a partial dislocation is 4-6 weeks.

So maybe that's what he was referring to? Depends upon the comfort level Flint feels. Maybe he will be on the bench and only come on if needed for a few weeks.

I reckon he'll start to see how it goes.

The cortisone and the therapeutics will be out.

Once O'Toole was sent out on loan, I assumed that Flint's injury was fairly minor. Clough would have kept him as the obvious backup for Flint unless confident of Flint's early return. Fingers still crossed, but it looks like excellent news.

The difference between Flint playing today and not is huge. From his introduction at Gresty Road and a fantastic sliding tackle in front of the travelling fans, he’s been immense. It isn’t just his leadership on the park, it’s the reassurance he offers those around him. I don’t want to see him play in pain, I don’t want him to risk further injury and miss more games, but if we can get him on the park and manage him through 90 mins it’ll give us more chance of winning the game.

I personally wouldn't risk him today even if he says he can play.

One of his (many) strengths as a defender is his physicality, whether that be in the air or when running alongside and tackling the attacking threat.

All it would take is one out of place nudge or one awkward fall where he lands on any part of his arm and the shoulder could fully go.

I know today is important but it's not so important as to risk losing him for 16-20 weeks.

Let it settle down and see how he is next Saturday.

He's too important to us to gamble his season away.

I think so too, today the danger will not particularly be from hgh balls into the box but keeping the ball away from Langstaff.

Flint has played most of the season sat in an armchair anyway, playing with both arms in a sling might give some of these forwards chance to have half a kick.

I'm very much in the same camp.

Maybe on the bench if he could potentially play and its a "spare" slot.

Having said that though I'm no medical professional. It's possible the specialist looked at it and said ice pack for a couple of day and you'll be rate.
