I changed to Thursday mate when I was doing it. Because we kept drawing. Time will tell.

Bowery Flint Cargill McLaughlin
Reed Brunt
Clarke DKD Quinn
Akins
Give Maris a well earned rest and have him and Lewis available to come off the bench.

Tight game 1-0 Stags
Won't predict the side because Nigel has his own way of thinking.
Who would have predicted that XI on Monday but it did the trick

Big game this…I’m more nervous about Crewe than I was about Stockport for some reason. Hopefully we get this one done…2-1.

Expectation is different that'll be why.

Will be a tougher scrap than the Stockport game, simply because our pitch is in a state and it has been hammering it down every single day it seems since we last played on it too.
Two teams who like to get it down, having to scrap because they can't, should hopefully see us scrape through by the odd goal because we seem more able to adapt for the fight.

Yeah, it's one of our games in hand over Stockport. We go top with a win. We stay second whether we draw or lose though.

Anyone remember the last time we were top of the league (not non league) and also when we were top when teams could not catch us with games in hand ?

Other than the Conference years and late 70's, the only time I can remember us going top was after beating Torquay in late 1985 I think, but dont think that lasted long. My eternal pessimism may have blocked any others out.

I also thought we went top after beating county away on the Friday (may have been under Evans)

Yes, but other teams then had games in hand.

One season recently we were top of the table (as it stands) at half time when we were beating Orient 2-0.
Unfortunately Lee Angol scored a late winner in a 3-2 defeat and we finished the night outside the play offs.

Remember beating Shrewsbury 1 nil on a Friday night to go top around the Decrmber 1998 ish and think that season we were bottom after the first game but other teams had games in hand and could catch us. Cant recall being top without being able to be caught for ages. Maybe 90s ?

I was trying to think of a game in the late 90s where we went top, and I think you're right with Shrewsbury. I couldn't get away from thinking it was the Barnet 5-0 game, but know it wasn't.

I seem to recall a group of Stags fans went on Soccer AM the next morning and were chanting we were tpp of the league. Perfect timing for their appearance. Or was that a dream ?
