I've heard rumours today that Simon Clough has been up in Edinburgh a few times recently, watching Harry McKirdy in his cameo appearances. McKirdy unhappy with how his move to Scotland has panned out.

Would that rule still apply if one of the three teams is in Scotland?

I think so.

I read the EFL website earlier and the way I read it was that a player can only play for 2 teams in one season. The only exception is that if a player has played for 2 clubs but one of those clubs is in a differing football association who's season starts at a different time to our FA then they can play for a third club.

For example if McKirdy had played for Swindon then moved to the Irish football league then he could probably play for a third club in England because the League Of Ireland runs from March to October. However, Scottish football runs parallel to English football so I don't think he can play for another club in England or Scotland.

That's how it made sense to me.

This is the wording I read -

Registration of Players - FIFA Article 5.3 - Three & Two Rule

In accordance with FIFA Regulations a Player may be registered with a maximum of three clubs during one season. During this period, the player is only eligible to play in official matches for two clubs. As an exception to this rule, a player moving between two clubs belonging to different associations with overlapping seasons (i.e. start of the season in summer / autumn as opposed to winter/spring) may be eligible to play in official matches for a third club during the relevant season, provided he has fully complied with his contractual obligations towards his previous clubs.

When Dannny Johnson goes this window then Detlef Esapa Osong , forward at Nottingham Forest Academy would be a good loan signing. He’s strong and powerful and basically built like a brick Outhouse .

yes but we could sign Swan permanently

We could but highly unlikely.. hes very well thought of at Forest.
We will be in a similar situation with Swan like we were with Tyler Walker.
Go up and we keep him another year on loan.
We don't and he goes to a league 1 club on loan.

Yes it would. Their leagues run August-may same as ours does. Is a FIFA rule not just our FA.

The only time it could be sanctioned would be if he is transferred to a team whose season starts around now like the MLS in March or the league of Ireland in about 3 weeks time. Norway, Iceland and Sweden could be destinations he could join.

This is allowed for these leagues because their season hasn't started yet, its a new season so the rule of playing for no more that 2 clubs would be "reset" in that league.

I think he’s played 5 times or so for Swindon this season. He left on 1 September
