Only club in the country that can kick off the season 17 unbeaten and still be within striking distance of the team in 12th, just so very Mansfield  You look at the table and think how have we not managed to shake teams like Morecambe and Bradford who you’d perceive to have had such average starts to the season!

Big game on Tuesday at Harrogate and an opportunity to put back to back league wins on the board for the first time.

Except Swindon drew, plus Wrexham didn't.

Except for Swindon, Salford got a 95th minute equaliser.
Good that Wrexham couldn’t beat Bradford, although Bradford had far more shots, and that Wimbledon couldn’t beat Barrow.

All very tight, a win away from automatics and a defeat from mid table

If a top 3 spot is our goal this season, we have to go to Harrogate and win.

Something I think we will do and quite easily too

not necessarily.

I've had a look back and since 2014/2015 season, teams in the top 3, have lost a minimum of 5 games. 7 or 8 losses seem to be the norm.

In fairness, Harrogate is one we can afford to lose because they are unlikely to finish top 3 and so aren't a rival. 1 5 was Northampton in 15/16. Even the COVID season that was ended early lowest number of losses was 6 and they were just outside the top 3.

I won't be too annoyed if we lost one. Rochdale took point off quite a few promotion chasing sides, well more than people would expect.

Sorry Gazza this is a must win game. We need to be in the automatic promotion places and creating a gap from those below us. Otherwise it will become a lottery.

It's a marathon, not a sprint. We are highly likely to lose a game before the season ends. We will drop 3 points somewhere.

Unbeaten in the league and It's October. I would love to win this game. I won't be too disappointed if we lose though considering their league position and how it would affect us. That is all I'm trying to say.

A must-win game this early was the other season when we hadn't won in 14 games(or was it 12?) that was a must-win to kickstart the season.

I'd love for us to stay unbeaten.

Hands up who thinks it is highly likely we will remain unbeaten in the league this season?

Not a chance but it would be the most Mansfield thing ever to go a full season unbeaten but only make the play offs due to too many draws and lose at Wembley for our first loss of the season

With 5 wins and a draw in October, Morecambe are perhaps the strongest side in the league. It would be nice if Barrow can do us a favour and scrape a draw, or even beat them. Morecambe have to be one of our major promotion rivals. I'm not sure why they're having such a great season. They'll be above us with three points, on the same number of games.

They were completely hopeless when they played us, thought they might be on for a double relegation. They’ve really kicked on since then

Even their fans were despondent after that game - I was looking on their forum and the talk was about a reality check and the priority being avoiding relegation. I think we had about 80% possession.

Morecambe are now 10/3 to win tonight with the bookies. I think that is good value.

Look at the PPG of teams played Morecambe have had the easiest start of any team so far, I feel like it won’t be long until they fall away.

For those wondering we have had the 6th hardest start of any team, and the hardest of any in the top 7. We have the 3rd easiest next 4 games.

Morecambe lost 1-0 tonight at Barrow which is good. Slows them down a bit.

Sheppey coping very well so far. I presume DJ needs a rest after putting in such a shift last weekend.

stupid error at the back by Sheppey presents James-Taylor a chance to run forward and shoot, and he scores. 1-1

4th goal for Walsall, howler from the ref, as the keeper had two hands on the ball before it was taken away from him.
