Given that it’s a criminal offence to obstruct a public right of way I think you are right.

Especially as (if we’re to believe what the resident policeman says) it’s the club doing it then someone could be in a lot of trouble if it was reported higher up.

Or keep away fans in the away end until home fans disperse, like every other club does.
Rather than keeping home fans locked behind a gate for forty minutes

Is it not the case that in most grounds around the country it's the away fans that are held back for a short period to allow the home fans to leave?

Yes mate.
pemill wrote:Completely unnecessary to close the gate yesterday, the Colchester fans were hardly a threat, quite a few in Sandy's before the game having a beer and not a sign of any trouble.
So, is it our hooligan element that are the real concern?

Thing is that happened when the gate was shut! The youths came from over Burger King way to attack the Wimbledon fans. Also what amuses me is they shut the gate to stop Stags fans attacking away fans yet when they open it they just let away fans walk through it towards the west stand and Sandys! It doesn’t make sense. Even the stewards think it’s ridiculous.
