To be fair they deserved the point, it was a very one sided 2nd half.

Very entertaining 2nd half. Excellent goal on the counter attack by Halifax. I thought they were going to hold on but to be fair Grimsby battered them in the 2nd half and deserved to win the game. That stops the rot for Grimsby after 5 defeats on the trot after being top of the league.

Results are definitely favouring the Spireites atm. Only seems to be Stockport firing on all cylinders, unless there’s others I can’t think of. D&R maybe.

HT: FGR 0 Exeter 0
Exeter have been the better side and should be leading. Josh Key has hit two shots wide of the far post and Luke McGee saved Matt Jay's shot at the near post. Padraig Amond headed straight at McGee from a Jake Caprice cross from the left. FGR's best chances have come from a curling Nicky Cadden cross from the left which Jamille Matt could not get on the end of and then Jack Aitchison's shot was well saved at the near post by Cameron Dawson.
Corners: FGR 5 Exeter 7

FT: FGR 0 Exeter 0
A patched up Exeter side will be kicking themselves for not winning this game. I made it around 11-5 to the Grecians on chances. Exeter played five at the back to counter FGR and Josh Key and Jake Caprice pushed up as wing backs to successfully stop Kane Wilson and Nicky Cadden getting forward. Archie Collins had a free kick tipped over the bar by FGR's MOM Luke McGee. Timothy Dieng then missed a sitter by heading over at the far post from Archie Collins' cross from the right from a short corner. Matt Jay had a shot saved from the edge of the area by McGee who then also saved Dieng's deflected shot. He then made a great save with his knees to stop Dieng scoring with a header from another Archie Collins cross from a short corner. FGR's best chances were a Nicky Cadden free kick and Matt Stevens heading over from a corner.
The FGR sponsors rightly gave the MOM to Luke McGee
Exeter's MOM were Archie Collins in midfield and Josh Key at right back. Matt Jay was also his usual lively self. I would happily sign all three of them for the Stags but I think clubs from above will come in for them. Sunderland were said to be interested in Josh Key in the summer.
Jake Caprice (a right back) also had a good game at left back.
Corners: 6-13
Attendance: 2,632 (833 Exeter Fans)

And the new wooden stadium miles from their current home will only be 5,000 capacity I do believe?

:
Strong City side, maybe a weak bench with Cieran Slicker (GK) and Oscar Bobb (MF) on bench for first time with Conrad Egan-Riley (D)and Romeo Lavia (MF) yet to make a first team debut
