You cracking a real ale Darren?

Are you the devil in disguise Sam? You are putting ideas in my head now.

I think George Lapslie's signing deserves a celebratory pint.

I'll have one whilst watching Cheltenham v Newport.

I was praying we would extend his loan until the end of the season. Never imagined him signing permanent. Amazing news, the building of a squad to hunt down promotion next season has begun. Welcome to Mansfield George and your beautiful family. COYS!

He was already on loan for the season so no worries there.

Laps has so much potential. I hope he realizes it and gets promotion with us, then makes us a fortune.

That’s a different matter. We couldn’t extend his loan as it already to the end of the season

I’ve been sat thinking about the quality loan players we have had in my lifetime who ended up signing permanently elsewhere. I am sure I have missed a few, but the ones who really spring to mind are,

O’Neill Donaldson
Adam Murray (although we had him loss of times since)
Matt Piper
Ben Whiteman.

Are there many who have been so good who we did sign? I think Greenacre would fit into this?

It’s a brilliant feeling to get someone like Laps signed up for the longer term

Matt Green? I’m sure he joined on loan first.

Edit: read that wrong.

You’re right. Greeny was one I missed.

He was awesome in those conference years!

The loan player we didn’t sign - Duncan McKenzie.

Didn't Iyseden come initially on loan? I think he's still playing by the way, legend!

Surely Tyler Walker should be in there? He’s been the best one in recent years.

I'm pretty sure that Rod Arnold, our greatest ever keeper and holder of our record appearances, came to us on loan from Wolves, before signing permanently.

Yes he was definitely on loan at the end of a season and then signed permamently in the summer.
The reason he has carried on playing so long is because he didn't wear himself out with over exertion in his younger days. Wandered around the pitch at times, taking ages to get back onside after making a run. Frustrating as hell at times, but as you say an absolute legend !!
I remember watching pre-match warm up at Rotherham once and the players were running widths of the pitch. He was going so slow that he was meeting the others coming back and turning round, so he was only running the middle half of the pitch.
Going by comments on this board about Maynard, most of our current fans would have wanted him out of the club because he "didn't look interested" and "never looked like he wanted to be here". ;)
