Think we should go all out on this one, make winning routine again, build on the confidence from yesterday’s performance, Scunthorpe are there for the taking.

I’d personally make as many changes as possible within the rules. Whilst I appreciate the point above about making winning a routine (and agree with it), the same 11 have put a massive shift in over the last two games at Bolton & Sunderland on big pitches. They would all benefit from a rest this week after playing Saturday Tuesday for the last few weeks. This game is a dead rubber and getting a win in the league is the priority now.

It’s also a good opportunity for Clough to get eyes on some of those on who have been the fringes in the last 2. Meneyese, O’Driscoll, O’Keeffe, Sinclair, Reid, Cook, Stone, Smith, J.Clarke could all do with some minutes so may as well!

I would have thought Scunthorpe will be making plenty of changes for this as well with them playing today and only having a days rest before the game with us. There’s still every chance we could rotate plenty and still get a positive result, all of the squad will be chomping at the bit to impress in front of the new manager, particularly after yesterday.

:) With the new manager in charge we need to keep this unbeaten run going and if the team can get the win it would be amazing.

Skunkthorpe 1 Super Stags 2 Maynard brace :)

Clough will take this opportunity to evaluate his players, while resting players with knocks and strains , with so many games and covid reducing the squad with players at risk of having to isolate puts more pressure on the squad. Getting points on the board is the priority, and this game i feel will be a training exercise

Normally I wouldn't bother with this game, especially as it's a dead rubber, but I'm curious to see how Clough approches it.

Clough will want to win this one. They're our relegation rivals as things stand. This will be treated like any other game. It's a competitive fixture and we need to win our competitive games. I would expect changes, we took a few knocks yesterday but it will be a strong squad.

Full strength team, possibly rest one or two and go for it.

Pile more misery on them whilst gaining ourselves momentum

Solihull Moors just beat Scunny. Hit them when they are down, come back with a win.

Play the fringe players, the first 11 have had two tiring matches.

The rules are such that you can't play 11 fringe players.

Here we go. Here are the EFL Trophy Rules on selecting teams:

7.3 Each EFL Club shall play its Full Available Strength in and during all Matches. Full Available Strength means the EFL Club must include at least four Qualifying Players in the ten outfield Players named in the starting eleven on the Team Sheet.

7.4 Qualifying Player means any Player who:
7.4.1 had started the immediately preceding First Team Fixture (as defined below);
7.4.2 subsequently starts the immediately following First Team Fixture;
7.4.3 is in the list of ten Players at the Club with the highest number of starting appearances in First Team Fixtures in the same Season;
7.4.4 has made forty or more starting appearances in First Team Fixtures or international equivalents (and not limited to the same Club or Season); or
7.4.5 is on standard loan from a Premier League Club or any EFL Club operating a Category One Academy.

7.6 Any EFL Club failing to meet the requirement to play Full Available Strength will be required to pay a fine of up to £5,000.

7.11 A maximum of 5 Players registered on a Temporary Loan Transfer can be named in the Players listed on a team sheet for any individual match played in this Competition.

7.12 Players registered on a Temporary Loan Transfer will be eligible to play unless the loaning Club (or club) expressly indicates it does not consent as part of the applicable loan agreement.

7.13 No Player may play for more than one Club in the Competition in any one Season.

Rollin Menayese, Corey O'Keeffe, Andy Cook and Jamie Reid would count as Qualifying Players if Nigel Clough wanted to play the young lads - Aiden Stone, James Clarke, Aaron O'Driscoll, Jason Law, Alistair Smith, Tyrese Sinclair etc

I know I'm covering my bases but I wonder having got the win whether NC might now switch it up, it's a bit of a dilemna.

Start the same 11 and hopefully tonk them to build the confidence going into Saturday and make it 4 unbeaten... or rest Bowery, Perch and Lapslie and have a look at Cook, Menayesse and maybe put McLaughlin the in middle.

I've not heard his interview yet but it wouldn't surprise me at all to hear him say all 3 players were magnificent and deserve the night off. Stech as well was much improved.

On the flip side we play Lapslie and Maynard and they get injured in a dead rubber. I know what I would do.

Needs to play Cook and Reid. A dead rubber is a good opportunity to have a shufty at the squad in general. Play Sinclair too and Stone

Happy with the squad announced and it’s the sensible decision to rest the bulk of the team that played the last two games.

Great to see Clarke in the squad
