Meanwhile relegated Stevenage are beating Pompey 3.1

Shocking defending for the third. Several players should have cleared their lines. All about taking responsibility

O'Keeffe with a free kick on the left. Sweeney glances a header towards goal. Wide of the right post.

Which is why I say play the kids.

It's a PSF against a very good Preston side. They'd put 10 past the kids (they might put 10 past the first team), it would do far more damage to young side.

I'm sure JR agrees with that ridiculous statement.. With no gate money since March cup prize money would be most welcome at the moment.

I expected us to turn up and be competive and not roll over making the same mistakes as last season.. Its a one off winner takes all cup.. Like when we beat Leeds in this same competition or gave Liverpool a run for their money a few seasons back.

Ht, 3-0. The difference in quality is showing. We did fine first 15 minutes but not done much since.

Checked on BBC and we have had 30% possession to their 70%. 4 shots to their 7. 0 on target to their 5. 2 corners to their 1. 9 fouls to their 3.

I agree Steiner, this is NOT a friendly, regardless of whether we expected to win or not. I didn't expect to be 3-0 down in 25 mins! Worrying.

I did  Preston -2 @ 11/4!

PNE are a good side but nevertheless the shape doesn’t look great. Way too much space between centre backs and wing backs. You would expect the wing backs to sit in away to championship opposition but the they’re just bombing on. Midfield 3 chasing shadows. Front 2 isolated.

O’Keeffe going forward only bright spot for me so far, but I expected a tough afternoon. If I was GC I’d get a friendly booked in next week against Dog and Duck FC and build some confidence.

Still have Clarke and Maynard to add to the squad so its not the finished product.

Preston are a good team and likely Championship play-off contenders.

Disastrous defending by the Stags after Andy Cook had hit the post in the 11th minute with a right foot shot after good work by Danny Rose and Cory O'Keefe All three Preston goals were easily preventable and were due to poor defending. Farrend Rawson did not win the header for the first goal and Ryan Sweeney should have done better blocking Tom Barkhuizen’s shot. George Maris lost the ball for the second goal and James Perch should have done better. The ball then was played in behind Farrend Rawson and Rollin Menayese for Sean Maguire to score. Conceding the third goal from a corner is also very worrying. James Perch should have headed the ball away at the near post. He does not look up to full speed. I do not know who was supposed to be marking Patrick Bauer.

Preston are getting lots of joy down the right as Tom Barkhuizen is making the most of Mal Benning charging forward getting in the space behind. The three central defenders have looked all at sea and Farrend Rawson and Ryan Sweeney were beaten in the air by Sean McGuire who is 5 foot 9.

George Maris has not really got in the game. There has been plenty of energy from Harry Charsley and Danny Rose. We need to go back to basics and just focus on our defending for the second half and try and keep it at three nil.

There is quite a good reason why results like the one v Leeds happen every 20 years or so.
