It’s theft. End of.

People try to justify it being faceless corporations that won’t notice or care, but this is our club....essentially it’s stealing from all of us.

We’ve all accessed illegal content at some point in our lives.

But robbing the club and bragging about it on a fans website is a bit dumb, or........

Possibly just trolling ;)

Mostly iFollow has been fine for me, but it’s not without its faults.

I use the same set up every week, laptop plugged in via Ethernet cable, into tv by HDMI lead. On Saturday I just could not get the stream to load. There were no problems with my internet (I was still able to watch via my phone which was connected to the same WiFi). I tried several different browsers but whatever I tried didn’t work for the whole 90 minutes.

Simple
I'm sure JR can get by without my £10 every week for now.... As soon as crowds get back in me and the lad will be back paying at the turnstiles don't panic :D

Of course it makes you less of a supporter- you clearly don’t give a toss about the club
It’s precisely because people aren’t paying at the turnstiles that the club needs your cash- unbelievable comments. Please tell me you don’t believe you are supporting the club

Not everyone has money to donate to mansfield you know... I've followed the the stags for 25 years home & away spending thousands along the way.
I see the stagsnet police are out in force tonight... Next you'll be saying I can't watch xhamster cos its stealing from the porn industry.

You don't have to watch an illegal stream and you don't have to defraud the club.

Ah well that's all right then, yours and your dads stream has worked well. Sod everyone else having problems with this absolutely terrible service,

Martin says the service is excellent folks. stop whinging. ifollow isn't bullshit, its you. your equipment and your broadband.

Stealing is stealing. It’s depriving the club of much needed income. I don’t care about the criminal side of it. He’s even crowing about his own lack of morals. What a raspberry

But unfortunately belly it isn’t stealing. It lies in the same category as slander, liable and deformation and can only be dealt with in the civil courts. I am making no judgment on the morals of the issue but would suggest it is generating this amount of displeasure only because it is our club who aren’t receiving the revenue from the stream. I don’t hear the same amount of discord and condemnation when the victim is someone like Sky TV and indeed that has been encouraged on other threads. If companies like Sky, BT etc weren’t charging such high prices for their products, I’m sure pirate streaming wouldn’t be such a problem. Yes I know they put mega money into the game but they make eye watering profits for their shareholders. Would you buy cheap fags where duty hasn’t been paid? Would you add a few extra items to your business expenses in order to reduce your tax bill? I suggest they are bigger misdemeanours as you would be depriving the country of revenue meaning less for the poorer sections of our society.

You also have to consider if streamers would buy the match if they couldn’t get it for free. If the answer is no then the club have lost nothing and it may prevent the streamers from losing interest and fail to return when crowds are eventually allowed back. So maybe in the long run, streaming may just make the club more money than if it were not available.

And a final thought for you. How many season ticket holders have offered their ifollow pass to their mates when they aren’t available to watch themselves? And how many have allowed their mate to use their season tickets when they couldn’t get to games in the past? Maybe we shouldn’t be so fast to throw stones over a moral issue when we have also maybe denied the club revenue ourselves.

So it may well be a criminal offence.

Either way, whether it it is criminal offence or a civil offence, it is unquestionably illegal, which is not disputed in the quoted article. It is certainly not perfectly legal for you to view.

Ifollow isn’t a tv broadcast Martin. TV companies pay huge licence fees to broadcast on the tv airwaves but ifollow is broadcast on the internet.

Update following your edit.

It is not a civil offence. Only criminal matters can be an offence and end users of pirate streaming are not doing anything illegal. They can only be sued in a civil court for loss of revenue and the plaintiff would have to show they have suffered a loss. Morally wrong not criminal, there is a huge difference.

Sandy, I read that as an example (use of the word "like"), and it may be the word "live" that is the key difference to the rest of the article. However it is not clear in this article.

Premier League illegal streaming could see criminal action taken, police warn

Thursday 18 June 2020

Return of football has triggered a huge demand to watch games behind paywalls, but the City of London Police has issued a clear warning that fans who use illegal services are ... breaking the law.

Premier League fans have been warned they face heavy sanctions for watching illegal streams of games following the return of football this week ...

A crackdown on illegal football coverage in recent years has made it much tougher to watch games for free, and the City of London Police’s Intellectual Property Crime Unit (PIPCU) has warned those who consider relying on unofficial streams that large fines and prison sentences await them if they are caught.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Court, the head of PIPCU, said: ... “Not only is it illegal to stream matches without paying for them," ...

Fact UK, leaders in intellectual property protection, stressed that the only way to avoid both criminal action ... is to utilise official and legal streams of the Premier League.

This is unequivocal

https://crimestoppers-uk.org/keeping-sa ... -the-risks

In short, if you are streaming and watching - for free - films, TV shows or sport that should be paid for (or that are not legally available in the UK), then you are streaming illegally.

It is not a grey area: those who load up, advertise, sell or distribute dodgy streaming boxes and sticks are committing a crime, as is anyone who uses one of these dodgy devices to stream illegal content.
