It was always a big risk signing Joe Riley due to his injury record.

This is what I posted when his name was first mentioned as a potential signing.

Joe Riley
Joe Riley is 28 but has only made 133(17) league starts since making his debut for Bolton Wanderers in the Premier League in November 2011. This seems to be mainly down to injuries (ACL, knee, broken tibula etc). He made 16(1) league starts for Bury in their League 2 promotion season. He then signed for Shrewsbury Town in 2016 for an undisclosed fee but seemed to be injured most of the time. Made 14(4) league starts for Plymouth in 2018-2019 when they were relegated. Seemed to play fairly regularly at right wing back/right back for Plymouth this season until they got beat 4-0 at Exeter at the end of October - 11(4) league starts.

It could be a risk giving him a long contract due to his injuries. Could be another Hayden White. We've already been down this route with David Mirfin, Zander Diamond, Craig Davies, Hayden White etc. Perhaps contract would need to be based on number of appearances.

Oh jesus. Did he do it at the haunted and cursed RH academy?
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

Have the pitches been sorted there? We seem to pick quite a few more injuries up on the training pitch than everyone else

I've just said on another thread that I saw him tonight with his family at KFC in Forest Town. I always thought he lived over Birmingham or Peterborough way?

I don't think we will resign White, but I agree that we should if the budget allows it.

Much better than Riley imo, but probably also more expensive which would have been a factor in the decision making considering we also have Gordon and Clarke who can play the position

I agree, getting White would be a good move, but both Clarke and Gordon are very promising. In fact, Gordon would be my 1st choice right back.

The problem is Rob is that Kellan Gordon is not really a right back. He's much better attacking than defending. He needs to work hard on the defensive side of his game. He was poor last season at closing down attackers and stopping crosses.

He might be open to a return on reduced wages in that case.
