I haven’t seen Reid so can’t comment on him but Cooke , Rose and Bowery all offer the same thing and Maynard although is quality and guaranteed to get goals is not blessed with the pace to stretch teams.

If our Plan A does not work I don’t see a plan B off the bench?

Reid has considerable pace.

But will he start matches?. If not it’s a lot to ask of a player to come on and change a game if that player has zilch league experience.

Not if he’s good enough it’s not. That’s the lottery with those sort of signings.

Soccerbase is better than Google although not great on non-league stats so some missing info on Torquay United.

Jamie Reid has very limited football league experience with 12(11) league appearances and 3 goals for Exeter City between 2012 and 2017.

2012-2013 3(1) league apps and 2 goals (Sub in December 2012 and then made first league start in April 2013)
2013-2014 1(5) league apps 0 goals
2014-2015 0 league apps and 0 goals
2015-2016 8(5) league apps and 1 goal
2016-2017 0 league apps and 0 goals

Torquay United
2014-2015 1(1) league app and 0 goals
2016-2017 31(15) league apps and 5 goals
2017-2018 33(8) league apps and 8 goals
2018-2019 42 league apps and 32 goals (taken from Google)
2019-2020 32 league apps and 18 goals

Truro City
2015-2016 5 league apps and 3 goals (taken from Google)

Just a hunch, but I think Reid could be the next Green. We could end up making some money out of him, or even better go up the pyramid with him. Hope he’s our Steve Bull
Like I say, just a gut feeling about the guy and from the stuff I’ve seen. I hope I’m right.

However many he has or hasn’t it’s still a big responsibility to be the only pace player in the side.

I do have a good feeling about the man and wish him every success.

I don’t think he’s particularly quick from what I’ve seen of him. Quicker than the other strikers we have, but not electric, unless he’s been holding back in friendlies. Like the look of him though, looks like he can link the play and not afraid to have a pop.

That’s the disappointing aspect of Stags game recently. The lack of long shots.

The lack of and quality of long shots in the past couple of seasons has been awful really. I’ve often gone away bemoaning how we seemingly had nobody that was capable of striking the ball cleanly.

Let’s hope this season there’s a marked improvement in this area. Clarke, Maris, Reid, have all scored a few goals from range from watching clips of them at previous clubs, Cook doesn’t mind a speculative shot and Sinclair fancies himself from range too. Even if they don’t go in they can help build a bit of pressure which is another area we need to improve in - sustaining attacks and banging the door down until teams buckle.

It is one of the usual accounts that are largely nonsense, but that being said he’s a player that we should be looking at really. Location suits him, he can play left back, wing back, or left wing if needed, and has been very successful at this level over the past few years. He wouldn’t come to sit on the bench though that’s for sure.

All hypothetical of course as there’s nothing to say we truly are interested.

Of the ones the kid copies, some are right. Of the ones he doesn't, none are right. Waste of oxygen.

Adam May was on trial at Bristol Rovers last month. He played for them against Exeter City in a friendly.

Always thought he was good enough for conference prem and possibly league two if he bulked up a bit.

Northern Premier League One, should be man of the match every week at that level. Closet teams to us, to watch him play, will be Gainsborough and Grantham.

It’s a big shame that the standard of non-league football in Notts has fallen to whereby we doN’y have teams that compete at that level.

Rumours on OFF that Barrow are signing Cook, wouldn't surprise me after him being left out the squad today.
