ref against Carlisle on Saturday

Postby Sweden Stag » Mon Jan 27, 2020 9:47 pm

The man in the middle against Carlisle on February 1 will be a completely new one to the Stags. Jarred Gillett. He has officiated in the Australian A-League for a couple of seasons and this season, he has mainly reffed Championship fixtures. Last season, he reffed the Morecambe v Cheltenham game, a 4-0 to Morecambe, on Easter Monday April 22, 2019. So on paper, it should be a very good official at One Call the forthcoming weekend. Details checked.

Think it is the first time ever we'll have a ref from Australia for a Stags League game.
Stockholm, July 4, 2008, 15.00 GMT. Good news came, K.H. gone. March 1, 2012. Ground purchased.

There have a few interesting videos of him doing the rounds including being upfront about VAR decisions in interviews straight after games.

superb refereeing and excellent use of VAR. Puts the Premier League's use of VAR to shame from what we've seen there.

Brilliant, how you should referee a game, VAR is to assist the referee and he has shown how a good referee uses it. He'll have made mistakes, but his communications skills are superb.

Looks worth the entry fee alone to watch what looks like a well respected decent ref.

Some of the rubbish we've had down at the Wonky Mill over the years this guy puts them to shame

That Dundee United goal was quality.
Would be interesting how many scrums the ref awards though.

Trouble is if he's any good (like Saturday's ref) he'll be moved up a few leagues.

Thought the ref v Bradford was decent, although he did lose the plot a bit last 15 minutes. Certainly had worse, like Mr Kettle.

He looks to be a brilliant ref, I've seen that video before. I imagine if he's having a good season he will be in the Premier League next season.

We could have refs like that now. Just there's no microphone on them so we don't hear what's said.
