Good luck to him.
Despite what people think of Adam, he brought some of our better players to this club and his signings still play a huge part in our team.

A massive chance for Adam Murray at Barnsley as caretaker manager after the sacking of Daniel Stendel. David Flitcroft succeeded in this role when taking over from his mate, Keith Hill, and then he obtained the job permanently.
Daniel Stendel won 31 of his 66 games at Barnsley, the third highest win ratio of any permanent manager in the club's history.

Can't seem him lasting long in the role and they will appoint a bigger name at some stage but good luck in the interim Adam.

Wow. Well done Adam.
I still think he's got Future in management, he'll have learnt a lot from last time.
Maybe we could appoint their last manager.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

I make it 9 managers in the EFL with Stags connections. Plenty of coaches too.

Would we really be worse off if we kept Murray and didn’t bother with Evans/DF. I personally don’t think we would, Murray made some very shrewd signings, given longer and any of the recent budgets I think he would have done just as good if not better than the last two managers.

we were on the verge of getting relegated again the year Murray got sacked, we were headed for a battle at least and not at the right end of the table

I actually think there is some merit in that. Although Murray was being cautious (to say the least) I don't think we would have gone down that year and I think the Radfords were probably turned by Fatty Arbuckle whispering in their ears. Evans didn't set the world on fire in his first season despite bringing in big budget players. Murray's players were better in the long run and he got them on a shoestring. With more money I'm sure he would have got even better players in and got the job done.
If the Radfords had the benefit of hindsight I don't think they would have got rid when they did. It's something we will never know but I do know that Adam Murray was a good servant of this club and deserves our thanks. I wish him every success at Barnsley.

According to a lot on here we are heading for relegation this year too but it won't happen now and it wouldn't have happened then.

Alex Neil
Adam Murray
Adam Barrett
Paul Warne
Steve Evans
Dave Artell
Keith Curle
Darrell Clarke
John Dempster
Could also include Paul Hurst, who I think had a trial/played in a friendly for us.

Yes it would have (relegation battle), no matter how much you like Murray.
Back then even though we had a few decent players our squad on the whole was poor, and Murray’s management was negative - there’s no getting away from that. This year we know we have a squad capable of being at the right end of the table.

That was the year before when he took over from Cox. He then had his budget cut before Fatty Arbuckle took over, spent a fortune and made little progress.
