Times move on though . When we only had the chad your comment made today would not be available for us to read until next Thursday. Used to hate Thursday when I was a paper lad .The chad used to be three times the size it is today and every house in Skegby had one delivered .

There were times that the Chad was a good read, now it’s extremely poor.
Mostly rehashed readily available information, poor grammar, advert riddled clickbait. (With the odd dig at the fans just to add that “shock jock” effect.
Using your example perhaps I should have stuck with my 1978 Hillman Imp

Wasn't "Chad Day" a Wednesday? Not lived in Mansfield for nearly 20 years so may have changed. I too was a paperboy around Forest Town and yes the bag swelled to double its size that day!

Did you ever hold it too long and set it on fire? (The chad that is)

CHAD day was indeed Thursday and paper rounds had a 'drop' halfway round as a CHAD was so ft they wouldn't fit into a paper sack. You could barely lift a bag full of CHADs.

That memory is right up there with waxing a slide with a landers bread paper or sitting in the bath with your new Levi’s on .

Sneag wrote:Another memory as a paperlad ws that the old broadsheet CHAD was so fat it couldn't be shove through them old brass letter boxes without shredding the first few pages. There was also the added risk that if you did get the paper through the recoil on the spring loaded letter box would have your fingers when it slammed shut.
It was a good early lesson in finding out I wsn't destinned for a career in customer service. Getting complaints from ancient 35 year old curmugeons that I hadn't managed to squeeze a 5 lb (2.5 kg kids) newspaper through a 2 x 3 inch (5 x 7.5 cm) spring loaded knuckle smashing device without ripping it, or keeping it bone dry on a November morning in driving rain, always ended in me being 'lippy or cheeky' to the customer.
