2 of 4 will miss out... those that might not start would be 1 of the CBs, Macca, Khan and CJ. The rest are nailed on.

Having seen the pre season games I believe Demps has set out to play all the different formations he will need for the first half of the season. Most of the games Stags have started the first half at a slow tempo with the defence and midfield set up relatively deep. The second half has been completely different with a quicker tempo, the defence and midfield higher up the pitch and the strikers high pressing the opposition defence. We have improved massively from set pieces as well and all the strikers have scored at least one goal.
For the Newport game I think Demps will start three at the back, five across the midfield including the wingbacks and two strikers because of the direct and physical style Newport play. The strikers will be Cook and Maynard and we will try to play a counter attack using the speed of CJ on the right.
For Morecambe I think it will be a 4-4-2 set up and with much more attacking intent from the start and the strikers will change to Rose and Maynard.
I have a very positive outlook for this season and I think Demps will do well with a top squad of players and promotion is a high possibility for me. However we will still need an element of luck, avoiding serious injuries, getting decent officials and keeping the discipline right.

Yes Macca does seem to be getting a regular start by Demps. It could be at the expense of Bish who today was turned and left for dead by the younger more skillful kids time and time again. Apart from his brilliant goal Bish looks a shadow of the player he was for most of last season but was exposed badly by Chair at the during the end of season collapse

Bishop is on the downward fall in his career (by no means do I think he's rubbish, just something that happens to all footballers) and Chair is one of those players that was far too good for league 2.

I hope Khan is the preferred option, but in physical games away from home, like this Saturday's fixture, we may well see Macca given the nod.

I think it depends on Preston’s injury, I think the preferred formation and lineup will be similar to Saturday’s team but I can see CJ starting as he was maybe on the bench due to his previous injury and to take a look at Gordon.

On a side note, has Matt Preston ever got through a game without some sort of knock. Loves having the physio on that lad.

Preston's injury is a cut. I can't see that keeping him out next Saturday.
