Very good decision to get rid of Flitcroft and I'm very happy to see Dempster being given a chance to see what he can do. There's been a stupid amount of unsustainable cash thrown at our club and it's just not worked. Hopefully we can now can get some grounded hard-working players in the club in the style of Burton/Accrington/Newport

At least the youth team players will know how Demps wants the team to play and will have a couple years experience of doing so. That has to be better than bringing young players from other clubs and training them to a new system.

That said I don't expect lots of youth teamers in the first team but they will have a better chance than under Flitcroft.

I am more optimistic for next year now than before the removal of Mr Flitcroft and I also think we have more chance of retaining/not releasing players who can do good jobs if only as back up.

This means change but also continuity which has to be the best of both worlds.

What if this isn't actually Radford's decision?

Perhaps Flitcroft has been offered a position elsewhere, higher up in the leagues...

Er no.... We would have got compensation in that case.

Although at heart I'm a Stags fan and always will be to appoint Dempster is a brave move especially when you consider and look at the competition in L2 next season for those coming down and going up - L2s gonna be bloody hard next season and moreso with a rookie manager at the helm.

However I always am keen to proven wrong and, again, as a Stags fan, want the best for the club but this round of decisions doesn't hearten me greatly or fill me with immense confidence

Wasn't it terminated by mutual consent?

I'm just trying to make sense of the whole situation!

The sense if he failed, and the Radford's have acted, as I suggested they would if promotion wasn't secured.

Danny Cowley at Lincoln managed to. He was a PE teacher wasn't he, or if he's played for Liverpool etc I must have missed that.

What a joke ?? Highest league position in years and now we have a rookie ?? Not even proven at professional level ?
What players could Dempster attract that will benefit us ?? I can also see a few more players leaving now too so let’s enjoy that mid table yo-yo again

From the outside looking in, it looks like the party's over.

Evans spent the cash.
Flitcroft wasted two opportunities
Now the money has gone and the purse strings are tightened.

I wish JD well but he should have seen us over the line when Evans left, where there was no chance of relegation.

This is a very dangerous move by JR. History repeating it's self with the Murray appointment.

Agree that that point is stupid.

Think Mourinho flashes his medals as a player to sign people ?

The Radford's may now be playing a rebuilding game. After 2 years of massive investment and failure we may need a season of stability and restructure. Let JD bring on the youth with experienced pro's and build a team that is not only capable of promotion but of going further in League 1. The team we have has failed us and would not have held their own in L1. We have a brilliant academy who can now prove their worth and take the club forward to new heights.

Its a lovely first job for Dempster. Owners who are incredibly supportive and following 2 managers who have both been pretty poor for one reason or the other. Whilst I understand the risk of appointing a rookie, there are numerous examples where it works. Macc appointed a rookie manager, whilst Notts gave the job to 2 managers with more experience than Sol. Who did better?

I actually don't think Murray was given long enough in hindsight and think JR may feel that way too.

His players are still the mainstay of the club despite two more expensive higher spending managers coming afterwards. I was shocked when Adam was sacked and feel JR probably believed some of the hype Evans fed him.

Having been bitten twice JR probably feels he should stick with someone he knows and trusts. Even if Dempster falls short and we don't go up, we won't have achieved less than the past 3 years as league 2 is league 2 whether you finish 4th or 22nd.

Surely this ‘sacking’ is just a contractual thing. He was on a performance related contract and it had in it that we didn’t get promoted then he and all his staff would have to go.

That’s why JR gave in to DF all his requests for all extra training facilities , over night stops etc., so DF had no excuses that JR didn’t provide the tools to do the job.

We didn’t get promoted so he has to resign.

With regard to JD getting the job, he couldn’t have done worse than DF.

I tend to agree Pete, I'll give you the budget if you give me promotion. Only one half of the bargian kept, so he had to go.

We improved on what went before and his players are still the mainstay of the club and the only ones likely to bring in a fee.
