On this I agree with you Musings.

He would be a great signing.

Opinions eh. Perhaps he's part of the reason they were relegated?
Saw him many times over the years and he looked very average, need better if the budget is still a good one?

How can you even suggest their top goal scorer is the reason they were relegated? Bizarre.

Very. 13 goals in league 1 is not bad. Take into account they were relegated, it’s good. Surely he can’t be at fault!!!

To be fair, Sturridge is leaving Liverpool. I think that'd be worth a nudge. Maybe not to lead the line.

If memory is right he wasn't keen on dropping the league's to keep playing. Think he might end up in league one but a bottom half championship club might take him....

Elsnik would come back, id go get him tomorrow.

Fuseine Rashid is also very good. Had a bad injury last year but still a great player.

I thought we were all just saying daft stuff about players we will never in a million years realistically sign but that's a nice compliment, thanks chief.

is timi any different to what we have? ideally we need some steel to cover for bishop as we can't rely on him for every game next season.

Of course it's his fault, he didn't score enough goals! :D

How many steel players do we need....??? Bishop, Tomlinson and Macca cover that role.

Timi is probably the most gifted and most likely centre mid we had in our squad last year capable of playing championship football.

Agree with this in that we don’t need more players for that role, but the question I would be asking is would we have enough quality in that defensive role with a trio of Bish, Macca, and Tomlinson? I’m not sure either Macca or Tomlinson showed last year that they are really capable of filling that role well enough for a long period of time. If Bishop got injured for a while for example it would be a problem for us.

We need to improve on last year, that’s the whole point, so with that in mind i would look at signing a proper defensive mid, but it would probably need to be in place of Macca or Tomlinson for me so there’s a decision to be made.

We definitely need another midfielder that’s technically gifted too, I wouldn’t mind Elsnik back at all but I’d have a good look at what’s out there.

Adams has gone back to Northampton. Worrying, someone we should’ve been in for.

Are people getting twitchy?

Not even a rumour of a signing.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

I imagine we were in for Adams but he has stated he wanted to play for someone he knew and playing for his old club under curle ticked both boxes. And at 32 I’m hoping maybe jd has someone a bit younger possibly in his sites

Its the silence thats concerning. Even Carolyn (understandablely) has taken a leave of absence from social media.

Surely after almost a month it's safe to come back out and start to build some excitement though?

Clearly the media team are trying to keep things moving by interviewing current players but suggest thats because nothing is imminent in the offering of transfer news.

Even confirming Mellis has officially signed a new contract would be something.

Got to remember Northampton are having a near brand new squad whereas we are after a few mostly attacking players which is always the hardest thing to get done.

I’m hoping we target experience rather than youth, as look what the effect of bishop did to the team, maybe we will target young players though, due to JD previous role, but who knows, hoping for something before the kit announcement, unless we unveil a player along with the new kit.

I would assume JD and co will be trying to fill walkers boots first. Strikers are usually the hardest to sign as everyone's trying to sign a player who can stick the ball in the net on a regular basis. No need to panic, at least it's not a complete rebuild job which is what were used to

He’s on holiday this week, back Monday. So can’t see it this week unless Carol suddenly announces one.

Nicky Adams would have been a great signing. I think he has four promotions on his CV and he is still as fit as a butcher's dog having played right wing back for Bury. I thought we had no chance of getting him as he would want to stay in the North West. I'm surprised he's moved back down to Northampton even though he played under Keith Curle at Carlisle. They must have made him a decent offer.

Jay O'Shea and Nicky Maynard would still be good signings. Danny Mayor would be a fantastic signing.

Liam Mandeville has joined the Spireites. He should be doing a lot better after a promising start when Donny were promoted from League 2. He could be a good signing. I think there is more to come from him.
