Training This Week

Postby Nutty Stag » Sun Apr 28, 2019 8:30 am

Radical I know but let's ban DF and BF from training this week. Let Chief and Bishop take a session, surround the players with positive characters such as Jamie McGuire, Adam Murray (as a player) and John Dempster. These are people that wanted the club to succeed and were able to drag the necessary extra out of their colleagues.

It won't happen but it's not a bad idea.

Whatever DF and BF are saying to them obviously isn't working.

Are we not in need of a top quality performance in our quest for glory, time to think outside of the box.
Perhaps they are heaping too much pressure on the squad and the team may benefit from a normal week.

My point relates to the desire shown by the people not their current form.

Just as Yorkshire Stag was nailed on for “most stupid post of the year” with his Radfords shouldn’t be taking the kids on holiday post, up pops Nutty.

Truly a remarkable effort

We were poor yesterday ,but to lay the blame at DF is ridiculous ,he picked the midfield that most on here were certain would help us win the game ,but we just didnt turn up en mass yesterday got what we deserved ,now have to go again its a position most players and teams would relish 1 game to get promotion ,they shouldnt really need any coaching for this one

After the Yeovil game DF said that we had been found out and that the style of play would need to be altered to take into account the conditions, he would need to find a plan b. Here we are with one game left and he still hasn't found it. JR allowed him to bring in Abbott to oversee the administration side of things as he didn't like that side of the job and he wanted to concentrate on the training. Maybe this change has caused a negative effect on the team, we played better football before the change.

The first goal is the key for us. We've not lost from a winning position all season.

This week is more about mental conditioning as much as the training pitch. A sports psychologist might help.

That said - there is some crucial training to be done given that we might only need to draw. Ultimately we just need to keep a clean sheet.
This is a dangerous situation. We mustn't play for a draw, we still need to have a 'winning' mentality, as we could go a goal down at any stage. However, we mustn't throw too many players forward when we attack and leave ourselves exposed to the counter attack. Indeed, it is on the break where we are most likely to score - so getting the ball quickly to Hamilton & Walker (like we did against Exeter) might be the best approach. At the same time we also need to retain possession as much as possible. The big danger we face is that we could defend too deeply - so DF will need to work with the team to defend higher up the pitch and get the midfield & forwards to do the required defensive work.
The atmosphere will be intense, but the longer the score stays level, the more desperate MK will become and will take more risks. We need to be mentally and tactically prepared for this unique situation. I am sure that DF, Futch and all the players can collectively do the necessary preparation. The question is ...... are the team good enough to see it through?

I would get the psychologists in this week. Break down the barriers that seem to be restricting them.

It's the last game. No training will work now. It's too late. It's about being mentally capable and willing.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

what they should do is get some of the hard working stags fans in to talk to them. telling them what it means to us. show them their wage slips and what they have to do for it. lets hope this time next week we are thinking about league 1. :coys:
