We then took 9 from the remaining 7 games. That would guarantee a play off at least.

To stand any chance of the autos we need 6 wins from 7 now imo.

Based on last season he got a further 9 pts which would put us on 75pts.

6th and 7th place finished on 75pts last season. (Coventry and Lincoln).

After 39 games they had 65pts and 64pts respectively.

The team in 8th after 39 games last year was ourselves with 63pts, finishing on 72pts.

Currently this is Carlisle on 58pts, Carlisle can get a maximum 79pts.

Saturday's team selection won't beat Exeter away on attitude and performance.
Saturday's team selection could beat Exeter away and should of beat Crewe at home.
I'm looking for solutions that I have no idea about but I've come to one of not playing grant and cj in the same team.
Substitute one for the other if needed.
What's going through my mind and all supporters must be going through flitcrofts even more.
4 at the back 2 up front and muscle in the middle.
It's that easy :D

Chips your points are valid n are seen through a supporters point of view.....

However

DF picks the team he thinks will compete to win a game....

But a player who can't be arsed because he's only here until his summer holidays in 6 weeks time is a different matter......

One of the better prediction sites because you only need to select MTFC, Bury,MK Dons and Tranmere

A 3 point improvement by DF on last season. Very very disappointing and simply not good enough.

JR must be pulling his hair out!

His new hair will not have come cheap. I'd be very surprised if he was careless enough to pull it out.

Last season was a case of DF changing too much too soon with a squad he didn't know. This year felt more like a combination of burn out and a lack of confidence to play like we did.

More worrying for me is that Newport have 24 points from a possible 36 in the last 12 games. Top of the form table: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/league-two/formtabelle/wettbewerb/GB4?saison_id=2018&min=35&max=46

Their form is a worry, but it would be 'the Mansfield way' to spank them over two legs and leave everyone wondering why we didn't play like that in recent games.

Bit like our form going into the game with York.

Not good to be falling apart again when it really matters.

The thing that’s been so noticeable of late is how knackered the players have looked

In the second half of the season, we were never outside the top 4.

Table from Oct 14th 2018 to end of season.
Amazingly only Bury out performed the Stags.
We had a poor start with only 3 wins from the first 11 games leaving us at one stage 11 points adrift of 3rd position, albeit with a couple of games in hand). If the season was divided into quarters then we were average, brilliant, average, average.

We finished 3rd on goal difference for home form and only 9th on goal difference for away form.

The away form in the 2nd half of the season must have been below average with 6 defeats.

We finished 5th on goal difference for 1st half performances and 3rd for 2nd half performances.

We finished 9th on 1st half performances at home and 4th on 2nd half performances at home.

We finished 7th on 1st and 2nd half performances away.

If you do your welcome to add all the spaces. ST4GS clearly has far more patience to do so.

Pos Team P (Home) W D L GF GA (Away) W D L GF GA GD Pts
16 Mansfield Town 17 (Home) 5 1 2 16 8  (Away) 1 3 5 9 11 6 22

Hopefully a little clearer.

Joking aside based on the last 17 games our form was representative of 16th place  that isn't a laughing matter.

And unfortunately our actual play going into the playoffs looks decidedly mid tableish, as though the players have had their Bermudas, RayBans and flip flops in their kitbags for a while now.
Since the turn of the year we've been consistently inconsistent which generally gets you nowhere fast.

It’s clear to see that since the end of the transfer window we have been absolutely bang average where one or two bright performances against Exeter and Morecambe papered over some cracks. Anybody who just says ‘we finished 4th, it’s better than last year’ and leaves it at that needs to look a little deeper than a quick glance at the league table. This isn’t a problem that’s occurred over the past 3 games, it’s been building for a while unfortunately and we’ve become pretty easy to beat at the end of the season again and performances haven’t been anywhere near what we saw pre-jan when the pressure is on. 2, but hopefully 3 games to sort it out.
