Leading scorer McKeal Abdullah sustained an ankle injury in the match. The coach provided an update on his striker’s fitness.

“It was a strange one really because there wasn’t anyone around him,” he said.

“He said the pitch just went from under him.

“He left the ground on crutches and in a boot. I think he’s had a scan – the extent of the injury I’m not sure on at the minute – but we won’t have him with us in the near future.”

I hear McKeal is out for the rest of the season.
Big Shame.....was hoping he would get some minutes with the first team if Promotion / Champions was won

Kruszynski is a proper prospect every time I've seen him play.

Left footed, small build, technically excellent with a low centre of gravity. Hope he's given more minutes next season as he could save us a fair bit of dough looking for the long-term Quinn replacement.

Reminds me of Gary Castledine.

Love some of these lads, but dont see them making the first team. Not trusted to get instant results. Crying shame.

It is a real issue in the EPL and EFL, Clough talked about it recently that bigger clubs aren't sending young players down to our level for loans like they used to and there are very few of the clubs at the top of League 2 playing youngsters regularly.

That’s a shame, especially for the people heavily involved at academy level. He has scored a lot of goals and obviously has talent but if he isn’t going to stand half a chance with the first team, then you have to ask what a young lad at our club has to do to be good enough. Anderson appeared to have a future when making a few cameo first team appearances last year but I have heard little of him since. I know he had a few games at Ilkeston and played in our reserve fixture last week. I assume he has been on loan elsewhere in the meantime.
We are struggling at CH tomorrow and yet I have not read one mention of George Cooper. Another one, allegedly not good enough to add to several promising former academy players not to make the grade.
What a shame. We have spent lots of time, money and effort over a few years now without one making any impression at first team level. Alistair Smith is probably the best we have had but not to have anybody anywhere close since is frustrating.

Did you see the fans forum section on the academy? I came from watching that feeling more positive than other posters on here. They talked about Mason and Nunes being projected to be the Number one and two keepers in the future, there were also positive comments about Abdullah.
The session on it was really informative not least because they had already hit their target of selling one player a season to support funding as well as developing good players

May well see an U18 player on the bench against Accrington, no point in putting injured players on the bench if you cannot use them.

Well done lads, here's hoping the first team can replicate that score today.

After some great results and performances by the players this season for our academy and central league teams, it must have very hard to choose so congratulations to Lewis Warnaby to be Academy Director's player of the season and hat tip to Steve Hymas for his continuing support of the academy
