“One thing remains a priority and that is that I will not be here next season".

Interesting statement if no buyer is found.

They might get a reprieve but be relegated anyway for failure to provide proof of funds to fulfill the fixtures if Allen goes. So they could get relegated anyway as Gateshead were.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

100 % agree.
Didnt Hasloan only invest £1 and took millions out.

Probably the other way round with Allen and Hardy.

Only one I can think of that made his fortune from owning a football club!

Shocking going on to read

https://www.derbyshiretimes.co.uk/sport ... es-1572736

Chesterfield FC Community Trust "close to completing" takeover deal for Spireites
Chesterfield FC Community Trust is “close to completing” a takeover deal for the Spireites.

A statement released today by the trust said a “proposed purchase of Chesterfield Football Club is close to completion.”

Community trust chairman, Mike Goodwin, said: “Detailed business plans are in place after completing due diligence and we are now looking to proceed with the purchase of the football club.

“We are awaiting final confirmation from our funding partners after the funding was agreed in principle.

“I would like to thank Ashley Carson for his valued help and co-operation. Dave Allen’s assistance in helping us get to this stage should also be recognised.”

The trust said a further statement will be issued in due course.

The trust, which is a registered charity which works alongside the club but is a separate entity, entered into a period of exclusivity with Chesterfield FC owner, Mr Allen, at the end of December.

This gave the trust between four and six weeks to carry out due diligence and meant Mr Allen could not enter into talks with any other interested party about the sale of the club.

However, the trust later announced it had suffered a “setback involving funding partners” and the exclusivity period was waived.

But the trust said that a deal could still be completed by the middle of March, which now looks to be the case.

If the deal gets done it will bring an end to Mr Allen’s time at the club after 11 years.

He first invested in the Spireites in 2009 and became chairman in 2012 but resigned in 2016.

The majority shareholder put the club up for sale in 2017 when Chesterfield were in League One.

During his tenure the Blues have been promoted to League One twice and won the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy in 2012.

But after losing in the League One play-off semi-finals in 2015 they went on to suffer back-to-back relegations out of the Football League in 2017 and 2018 and are fighting to survive in the National League this season.

I flicked around commentaries on the National League this evening, including the last 15 minutes of this game. Exciting stuff. Harrogate deserved winners by the sound of it.

Harrogate had a goal "chalked off". Apparently there was an accidental handball. The referee waved play on and Harrogate went on to score to give them a 3 - 2 lead. The referee then disallowed the goal and awarded Chesterfield a free kick.

The Harrogate commentator wasn't at all impressed with the officials. We can all remember how bad they can be in that awful league. :)

I looked at the latest scores using FOTMOB app when watching the FA Cup game on TV and Harrogate had just gone 3-2 up.
Then I looked again a few minutes later and it was back to 2-2.
Then my phone updated back to 3-2 whilst I was still looking!!
This is usually a premier league phenomenon due to VAR but it was confusing at this level.

I think Chesterfield will pull out of the drop zone soon and stay out of it.
They seem to be upwardly mobile in terms of form (for a bottom six club) and certainly do not struggle to score goals.
Scoring regularly will save them irrespective of a leaky defence as they will outperform their rivals around them when the pressure is on.

Well their pitch will have had a similar amount of rain as ours and doesn’t look like it’s had 50 odd cows roaming over it for several weeks :x .

Still, chesterfield are raspberries
