Winger Junior Brown is set to serve a four-game suspension following his red card in last Saturday’s game against Hartlepool United.

The 25-year-old was sent-off on the hour mark in the defeat at Victoria Park after accidentally colliding with Pools’ goalscorer Brad Walker.

It was Brown’s second red of the season, as he was also dismissed whilst playing for Oxford United in a League Cup match against West Bromwich Albion in August.

“We haven’t really got any complaints on the incident,” said manager Adam Murray.

“It looked a lot worse than it was and Junior isn’t that kind of player or person to go in and intentionally hurt somebody, but their lad’s head has gone down, Junior’s foot has gone high and the collision has happened.

“We’re obviously ridiculously gutted with the four-game ban. It’s a massive loss for us, but we’ve got enough players in the squad that can come in and do a job.”

Brown’s suspension, coupled with Reggie Lambe being away on international duty with Bermuda and Jeffrey Monakana returning to Brighton & Hove Albion following his loan, means we only have one wide man available for selection for Saturday’s home game against York City.

Murray added: “It’s come at the wrong time to be honest. Reggie went away on Sunday and he’s not back until next Monday, so we’ll miss him on Saturday too.

“It limits our creative options and a little bit of our attacking threat, so we’ll have to re-invent ourselves a little bit and try and get through the next few weeks as best as we possibly can.”
