Holdsworth denies County rumours

CHAD.co.uk, 04 January 2010, By John Lomas

STAGS boss David Holdsworth this morning denied and laughed off rumours linking him with the vacant Notts County post.

Over the weekend, Stags fans have been furiously debating internet rumours that Holdsworth had been interviewed by neighbouring League Two Magpies.

But Holdsworth said: "I can categorically say I have not been interviewed by Notts County, Nottingham Forest, Manchester City or Bolton!

"I don't know where people get these rumours on the internet but, as far as I am concerned I committed myself to Mr Perry, Mansfield Town and the supporters for a four-year contract.

"If that is interrupted by someone then that means I am being successful.

"I have spoken to Andy Perry twice over the weekend and this wasn't mentioned so he can't have known about the rumours at that time.

"I only heard myself when someone told me last night. I have spent the weekend mending a sauna, not being interviewed at Meadow Lane. It's as simple as that.

"Apart from that I have been on the phone non-stop about players. I am a very busy man working hard to improve this football club."

Meanwhile Chairman Andy Perry explicitly said on twitter that Holdsworth or his agent did not apply for the job.

Did DH, personally or through an agent, apply for the job at Notts County?
