STAGS TAKE PART IN CRICKET TOURNAMENT

Mansfield Town FC will be among the sides fighting it out in a kwik cricket tournament at Kirkby Portland CC on Sunday.

The cricket club are holding their annual fun day at the ground in Nuncargate, Kirkby-in-Ashfield. There will be an under-11 tournament starting at 10am, followed by the adults at 1pm. Around a dozen teams are expected, including one from Mansfield 103.2, the Stags and several local pub sides.

The club have also announced that they have been awarded £4,200 from Sport England, which will be used, partly, to fund the purchase of a new bowling machine, as well as other coaching equipment.

BACON SIGNS FOR HUCKNALL

Striker Danny Bacon has agreed to join Hucknall Town from Third Division Mansfield.

Newly appointed director of football, Steve Burr, made his first three additions to the Watnall Road squad. As well as paying a small fee for Bacon, who completed the end of last season on loan with the UniBond club, Burr has also secured the services of former England semi-pro international Gary Patterson.
