Are the ones who want this thread to close the same sort of people that will watch a tv programme then write to complain, probably in wax crayon, rather than switch over?
Local rivalry will always play a part in football. Local rivalry is always about passion, gloating, one upsmanship and humour. So I for one say keep the thread.

Chesterfield are not our rivals anymore. They are tin pot non league. I don't like to sound like this but what goes around comes around . They lauded it up when we went down and to be fair they are one of the most arrogant sets of fans you will ever see. They are still at it with this "we've got more fans than you " clap trap like this makes them the almighty..

They are our rivals while ever they exist. Eventually they'll be back in 20 odd years time, but we can cry laughing at em in the meantime. Are Clownty/Imps/Donny ever going to instill such a dislike... errr no.

Yes it’s good to see them rot in the conference, where they belong, but getting bit obsessing about them now.

Didn't Darlington have a large following when they went into non-league? Newish stadium too I think.
Where do they play now?

Darlington never had a large following, they had a 25000 seater bowl and the original club no longer exist.

The funniest thing about this thread is they were a league above us when it was started.

You only have to work with a few north Derbyshire folk to realise how they are......

It's exactly the view of the vast majority on Bobs Board when we were down in the pits of non league.

Chesterfield will ALWAYS be our biggest rivals, always. I do recall a post saying something similar from a Spireite when we dropped into the abyss, something along the lines of Sheffield United being their biggest rivals
As for the rest of the post, yep we've always had the we're bigger/more fans than you stuff. What people forget is that we were both almost identical in terms of support until the Dark Lord took over. Fans left in droves, never to return, we still suffer from that now.
