It’s a tough one, some really strong contenders, however for me it’s Aden Flint who takes it, discuss

Bowery or Akins, consistent and dependable. No doubt the defensive signings have solved the glaring frustration of recent seasons

He has only played five months of the year.

If we're talking season so far, then probably Flint (Reed, Pym, Maris all good shouts).
If we're talking all calendar year, I'd say its hard not to give it to DKD with 19 goals and 9 assists.

Bowery, Flint, akins &, DKD hard to pick.

Think Pym is also in for a shout. Made some crucial saves at crucial times. Peno king into the shoot outs.

Christy Pym , seems like every game he is a bystander not involved apart from one or two saves that are just as important as goals scored at the other end , Grimsby a good example , second half we coasted, never in doubt loads of chances created etc, We could have been 2 or 3 down after 20 minutes.

If it’s for 2023, surely we have to take the back end of last season into account also. In Kilgour and Hewitt we have a couple of players who should also be considered for their contributions last term.

I honestly think it’s too close to call as Bowery, Pym, Akins and DKD would all be worthy winners. If we just look at the current season Flint would also come right into contention making the choice even more difficult.

Sorry but I just can’t decide and would consider joint winners from any combination of that lot.

I would say that Flint has made the biggest impact, a back four of Hewitt, flint, Kilgour and Cargill at left back would be frightening!! However to pick a player of the year I would give this to DKD not only for his goals but the way that he gets into good positions between opposition defence and midfield means he is available to break quickly on teams

This is a brilliant question. Like others have said is virtually impossible to pick one and that speaks volumes about not only the quality we possess but also the work rate and effort of the players. I would probably say Bowery just about edges it for his flexibility and professionalism after being moved from one position to another and also putting in outstanding performances in each role he’s covered.

Agreed. JB9, 2, 3, 5 gets it for me.

DKD for me but shows how strong we are when we've got about 5 if not more players that it could be.

Had a fair few seasons where we've struggled to pick 1

I would go for DKD over the course of the calendar year. Flint this season.

Bowery has been brilliant across the board, he's always done his best in an array of different positions and doesn't moan or complain about it.

DKD for me taking in to account the full calendar year.

Kilgour or Flint would have been right up there had they played across both seasons.

Akins & Bowery both deserve a mention as well.

I'd say that a lot of players have been very consistently good for League 2 levels of consistency. Some, such as Bowery, Pym and even Quinn have lifted their levels. However, Flint has singulary made the biggest difference in years by his sheer presence and ability.

Over the entirety of 2023? Could pick from half a dozen.

Bowery for me in the calendar year.

He's played here, there and everywhere which no other player could or perhaps even would have done to cover the ridiculous amount of injuries we have had. Not only that, he's been largely consistent and never put in a truly terrible performance either. He had one game this season where he was lucky not to receive a second booking and was hauled off immediately after it, which has only been a rare one-off.

Special mention has to go to the games where has has made the odd mistake too (which was going to happen given the regular chopping and changing of where he plays) where he has not let it affect him one bit, then largely goes on to put in a magnificent performace therein afterwards.

Flint without a doubt, the defence has improved immeasurably with him in it, even for half a season
