Crawley and Sutton away trips

Postby DoomMerchant » Tue Dec 19, 2023 9:18 pm

I see that Nigel has commented about the lack of FA common sense at giving our loyalist away travellers our two longest away trips both within 9 days of Christmas.

These boneheads really genuinely frequently provide fingerprint evidence that they couldn't give a monkey's bright red arse about the customers of their product. Well done Cloughie for highlighting it.

Agree.

I did wonder.

It's probably worse for him and the players. They have to get there sooner and they leave after the fans. They then have to travel together from the ground so they have to travel from/to home as well. Not great for anybody. But if we come back with 6 points, that'll make a lovely Christmas gift, won't it?

Back in the non league days I recall one season we had away trips to Eastbourne and Lewes on consecutive Saturdays and a Tuesday night home game sandwiched between.

Don't forget that we have Morecambe & Wimbledon in January. Two more long trips for the faithful.

We do. I'd say it's almost entirely down to geographical location of the Midlands

Anyone would think we were travelling to the end of the world for away games.....its London or thereabouts for heavens sake. When we are in the same boat as Carlisle and Barrow and previously Exeter then we have something to moan about.

It's not a case of that Chris - although it's a huge shock for you to dismiss it.
It's about the two long trips in the space of seven days, at Christmas, for hard working supporters but hey, easy innit I suppose.

Last season we had the least distance to travel than any club in League 2 and the 11th least in the EFL. This season we also have the least - by 1 mile from Notts County and the 2nd least in the whole EFL and Conference (only Northampton have fewer miles to travel). Although still doesn't detract from the point about the long distances to travel so soon before Christmas.

London isn’t a long trip. Nobody is forced to travel. Lots of other teams fans will have longer trips this Saturday and last Saturday. Even last night one set of North Easterners travelled significantly further and a lot didn’t bother with wearing tops!

They couldn’t afford tops after travelling that far…

There’s is normally a good contingent of London and SE stags (100-150?). I’m sure they would prefer the ‘easy’ trips to be spread out too.
