Great t from the Stags. Beautiful ball to Reed. He plays it to Akins in the area who controls it and shoots at the keeper

Boateng should be hitting the target from there, edge of box and straight in front of goal..

Don't think Nigel will be that overjoyed with how we played after going 2 up. Strolled about like a practice match. Bigger games to come, job done today. Newport definitely worst team here this season. GC could be gone soon.

some great defending by Brunt ,Flint and Cargill 2nd half, it really is the difference between this and last season , i thought we were a bit slack in possession at times, Reed in particular, but even he made good interceptions and did some good things

Reed made some absolutely outrageous passes. Probably the best passer of the ball we've had since Jacob Mellis.

Not spectacular today. But we take 3 points and we're in 2nd with a game in hand.

We'll take that.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

Funny old game Saint.

Never quite on it today, but could/should have won 4 or 5 nil.

Poor pen from Oatesy but no harm done.

Tbh they played quite well at times, I thought they could have easily sneaked one, was very happy to see the 2nd go in.

They did actually commit more men forward 2nd half. It left them with fewer in midfield. I thought after the second we might get a few more but we seem to stick rather than twist and played with the slippers on

Odd afternoon all together. An odd atmosphere. A strangely single gear performance that never needed lifting to put away an extremely poor County side. We could probably play another ninety minutes tomorrow after that; almost felt like a reserve team game, such was the lack of intensity.

Saying that, the back line was as firm as a castle wall, Newport weren't going to get past them if they were given the rest of November. So a steady, forgettable win where the points all count towards the main objective.

A weird on where at times we looked a million dollars and others we were pretty sloppy. I though Newport were pretty decent between both boxes but not great defensively and woeful in the final third. They managed 14 attempted yet managed to never look like scoring.

Two cool finishes by DKD, and very close in the first half to a beautiful one when he shot straight at the keeper after a brilliant touch. Oates a constant menace but again displays the lack of composure which keeps prevents him being a higher level player by missing the pen. Thought Maris stepped it up a notch in the second half.

About as routine as a win gets. Thought Brunt was superb, showing a great range of passing in the first half. Hopefully we have come through that unscathed.

A tough game in the end but a great win and clean sheet.
As Boateng came by us in the Quarry Lane at the end he was limping heavily, couldn't work out of he was holding thigh or hamstring??
