Your probs right but Clough does like to work on “partnerships” and in the training vids and the games so far, Kilgour and Cargill, Swan and Akins have been paired together. Suppose we’ll see.

Those two partnerships seem quite obvious.

Not being mixed up though? Thought it was pre season and that’s what it’s for? My opinion is that he has an idea on his team and works on it early.

Dan Westwell is the man who knows everything about the quality of Scottish football. He will know how good Airdrie are.

Airdrie played and beat Dumbarton on Saturday in one of the Scottish Cups and have another game on Saturday with Dundee. Would it have been any where near their first team ?

They've just been promoted from the Scottish 3rd Division, so not very...

All guesswork and early in pre season, of course.

 how can Maris not be a starter?, must be mixing them up

Clarke will be in front of Maris anyway, when fit.

From memory, Clarke always breaks down in pre season with a calf injury that he has had since arriving at the One Call.

Such a shame as a fit Clarke is amoungst the best midfielders in L2

Lucas is 150-1 (1/4 top 4) for League 2 top scorer at Billy Hill. Looks decent value to me each way.

I think 150-1 is a bit low still personally. I'd want an extra zero on that.

You could ask 100 people what their starting midfield would be and you’d probably be hard pushed to find too many settling on the same set.

Reed, Maris, Clarke, Boateng, Quinn, Hartigan, Lewis, DKD too if you extend it to attacking midfield. It’s a superb set of options. It’s going to be a tough job to select the midfield on the opening day but they’ll all play a good part for us over the course of the season as half of them are prone to picking up knocks or needing a rest here and there.

I think 150s is about right as Lucas as been on fire so far in pre season.

I've had £5 e/w on him this morning.

Going on his career so far, he's not prolific at all.

I'd be even more amazed if he suddenly finds his scoring boots when he turns 35 in February as well.

I think the job he is asked to do is to create the spaces and opportunities for others to score as well - which is why our goals are so evenly spread throughout the team. For me he is pivotal in that ; like Heskey was in a way for England when people couldn't understand his role.

I think he's done well in pre-season thus far but that's not really much of a reflection based on the opposition and their lack of marking/physicality against someone like him.

I'd be amazed if he gets into the higher double figures, but he has every chance to do better than expected if he's less likely to be playing every position on the pitch this coming season.

I'd agree with that. He looked poor at times last season when asked to play out of position on numerous occasion. I think he'll have a better season if we play two upfront. I'd like to see Swan and Akins starting as part of a 4-4-2 formation. He'll create space for Swan, in much the same way that Rheady did for Green. His experience will help Swan immensely.

I think the bookies are being a tad harsh when you consider Jordan Bowery is 80-1 and Danny Johnson is 20-1.
