Signed up to Substack, only to start getting unrequested emails from people I'd not heard of nor had I subscribed to.
Far too intrusive a platform for my liking,

I don't think that I'll sign-up, I mean, how many options for a substack are there? Hash browns/Bacon/Hash Brown and bacon? Seems a limited topic.

Thanks for the latest newsletter, enjoyed the piece from the Crewe supporter, always good to hear a balanced view from an away fan rather than the nonsense we often get from our neighbours! I thought his bit on how he thinks we are going to do was pretty much bang on and is almost exactly how I feel:

How do you think Mansfield will do this season? The top end of this division looks extraordinarily congested. How do you fit 6 teams into 3 spots, or 10 into 7? I like the squad, I like the recruitment. I like that Clough has gone back for players he knows like Pym and Swan. I probably have more question marks about Clough than some of the other managers at the top end of the division, particularly his insistence on playing players out of position. In a normal year I’d still have the Stags in the top 3 easy. This year think Mansfield’s range is probably something like 3-10. I’m afraid when I did my 1-24s I had you in 9th, but the play offs is 100% achievable and I wouldn’t be surprised by a top 3 finish either.

Nice to see Lee Bell doing OK, I always liked him as a footballer, very gifted.

Why would he have more question marks over Clough than any of the other managers at the top end of the division ?

I suppose it’s just his opinion. He justifies it by listing starting players out of position which is something some on here also pick up on. Each to their own but I think he’s wrong and Clough’s abilities speak for themselves.

I think the comment regarding playing players out of position is justified, though I don't agree with him about his comparison with other League 2 managers, eg Mark Hughes, who is a walking question mark!

Really enjoying reading these and find myself agreeing with pretty much everything you say. It’s always good to get the perspective and views of opposing fans too. Looking forward to the next one.

Great work Sam.

Brilliant to have some genuine quality input by some very dedicated and capable writers/supporters. For a long time it's been left to stalwarts like Martin and the established media to hold the reins. Now we have the likes of Sam, Craig Priest, and just today Josh, knocking out some consistently very creditable content. All power to the indie writers and broadcasters strengthening a foothold with Mansfield Town information. I wish you all well with your hoped achievements.
