Mental note:-

Tuesday, and an 'I was there', moment.

Last FL game at the Prolapse for a very long time or possibly for ever. I've a hankering to go to this one to say, 'I was there'. :hysteria:  :hysteria: .

Is anyone else going?

They are reminiscening about old times with Wrexham , bless um . It's the only thing they have to cling on to now , although I thought the main topic of conversation with the Welsh would of been, who have buggered more sheep .

To be fair to the Conference, if you didn't care about football or getting out, it wasn't that bad a place to be. I enjoyed a lot of the non-football related part of it. I've made a couple of good friends on the trains back from various thumpings by a village post offices.

I decided to have a drive over to the Prozac Stadium today as Wycombe had a chance of winning promotion and it may be a few more years before the Stags go there again. Chesterfield played well in the first half and looked dangerous going forward although their defence looked shaky at times as they got themselves into trouble by trying to pass their way out of their penalty area instead of just clearing the ball. Scott Brown made a great save to deny the lively Joe Rowley and Krystian Dennis' header went straight to Brown and Jerome Binnom Williams headed just wide. The Spireites scored in the 39th minute from a counter attack when Bradley Barry's shot from the right bounced off the post and hit Michael Harriman for an own goal. Wycombe equalized in the 46th when Luke O'Nien beat Chesterfield's left back George Smith and crossed from the right for Nathan Tyson to score. I thought both Chesterfield full backs, Drew Talbot and George Smith, had very poor games.

Wycombe came out firing at the start of the 2nd half but young Aaron Ramsdale made some good saves for Chesterfield including a one on one with Craig McKail Smith. However Chesterfield still had their chances and Binnom Williams went close twice. Wycombe scored the winner from a corner in the 76th minute. The ball broke to Dominic Gape on the edge of the area and his shot took a deflection before finding the net. It was his first goal of the season. Chesterfield nearly equalized when Laurence McGuire's shot hit the bar and then Louis Dodds headed wide from a good position from a Jack McCourt cross. The final whistle came and Wycombe celebrated promotion with their fans invading the pitch. One fan collapsed in the excitement and had to be stretchered off. There were some chants of "Carson Out" at the end from the home fans and banging on advertising boards but I was expecting much worse. It was fairly tame.

So you run on the pitch, charge towards the away fans and........erm, hang about for a few seconds and walk back.

Hardly the 70s and 80s is it?

Embarrassing :? Did I hear a little round of applause from their fellow sheep in the stands as they made their way back, as though they've achieved something?!

Ha ha ha. Last time I saw that many miserable faces from Chesterfield it had just been announced on the news that it is illegal to have ‘relations’ with sheep.

I see Kevin Davies has been sacked by Southport after finishing 15th in Conference North. He can take some comfort from the fact that Southport also sacked Paul Cook and John Coleman.
