BOXING DAY GAME POSTPONED
24th December 2010 18:27

The game against Grimsby at Field Mill on Boxing Day has been postponed.

The Stags held a pitch inspection at Field Mill on Christmas Eve when local Football League official Russell Booth deemed the pitch unsafe because of a combination of ice and snow. There are also burst pipes at the stadium and icy conditions in the surrounding area.

MANSFIELD TOWN'S Boxing Day clash at home to Grimsby has been postponed. Local referee Russell Booth inspected the pitch early on Friday and the club says 'had little choice but to call off the fixture due to the frozen state of the pitch'.

Several pipes have also burst in the stadium making the toilets unusable and these cannot be fixed until they have thawed out. The car park and surrounding areas remain treacherous and present a safety hazard to spectators.
