Forest Reserves 4 Stags Reserves 2
John Street for Stagsnet Stags Reserves put in a strong display against there local rivals Forest at the Wilford Training Complex this afternoon. On a hot afternoon both sidesdisplayed some fine football and Stags were not put in the shade by there local Coca Cola Championship neighbours. However a defensive mix-up led to the first goal after about twenty minutes and another followed within a few minutes as the back four was trying to establish there roles. Highlights for the Stags in the first half was shots on target from Murray, Williamson who had an excellent first half, and Lloyd which the goalie did well to tip over the bar. Murray, Curtis and Williamson worked hard in the midfield and controlled the game well for Stags and Jones(D) and Lloyd did some fine inter-passing at times down the right. The second half saw Stags fly at Forest and there consistent harrasing by Murray, Curtis, and Williamson saw the Forest defence make an error which opened up a chance for Marvin Robinson to fire the Stags first goal of the afternoon. Minutes later Lloyd wriggled free down the right and delivered a sweet cross for Robinson to head home is second within minutes of being on the field. However late on the Stags conceded two late goals when sloppy defending let Forest of the hook and give them a victory though deserved the Stags ought to have turned the screw upon getting back to 2-2 midway through the second half.
