One of the Fixtures the fans look forward to every season is Chesterfield and Notts County and early in the season it was the first clash against the young Magpies.

Played at Forest Town the fixture was highly charged and the Stags started well, taking the game to the visitors and it was long before a charging run by Mitchell into the box and a low shot was tapped home by Parkes to give Stags an early lead.

Notts County struck back almost immediatley with a cross and a tap in also, sloppy defending by the Stags.

In the second half Stags surged forward and Mitchell wriggled free and hit a shot across the face of the goal, and the Magpies Centre Half could only turn the ball into his own net 2 - 1 to the Stags.

Finally to secure the win following a succesion of corners Buxton headed home Lloyds corner, and the Stags were home and dry with a 3 - 1 victory.

This was a solid team display with good performances, all round the field.
