McCoist just now - ‘he just blocks his run’, yeah by elbowing him in the throat, pretty good way to block anyone’s run is that.

Their team is not as good after a few injuries then...

Fancy that :D

Doncaster Rovers 2 Tranmere Rovers 0 (HT: 0-0)
Attendance: 5,775
Possession: 39-61%

This was a scrappy game with few chances which was dominated by Tranmere who had 61% possession and won 9 corners. Doncaster did not win any corners. In the 1st half, Jonathan Mitchell in goal for Donny had to push a Regan Hendry left foot curling shot away for a corner and Tranmere left back Ethan Bristow hit the post with a shot from outside the area. Josh Dacres Cogley took a few long throws and put in some disappointing crosses.

Donny won the game in a three minute spell around the hour mark. On 62 minutes right back James Brown got on his good foot down the right and whipped a cross in. Jordan Turnbull headed the ball away and it fell to midfielder Ben Close just outside the area and his left foot shot took a deflection off Regan Hendry or Tom Davies and bounced past Mateusz Hewelt in the Tranmere goal. Three minutes later Tom Davies put Brad Walker under pressure with a poor pass out of defence. Walker was dispossessed by Charlie Lakin (on loan from Burton) who found Kyle Hurst on the left in the area and he finished well. Kyle Hurst was lively and had a good game and he was my Doncaster MOM. Kieron Morris had a shot tipped on to the bar but Tranmere could have played until tomorrow morning and not scored.

Regan Hendry on loan from FGR was good on the ball in centre midfield for Tranmere and he was their best player. Tranmere will be disappointed in creating very little with so much possession. Donny move up to 11th and amazingly are 2 points off the play offs. They are not a good side and it is probably their weakest team since 2000-2001 when they finished 9th in the National League

Tommy Rowe made his first start for Donny since 10th December. He played left back but went off injured in the 2nd half.

Thanks Darren, I enjoy reading your reports of other games (even despite the James Brown references)

Thanks Mark. I couldn't resist dropping in a reference to the Black Caesar (The Boss).

Tranmere fans seem to be in meltdown after losing to a poor Donny side with Harvey Saunders being written off already and Kane Hemmings getting flak. This is after a thread titled "Best January Transfer Business In A Long Time".

The truth is that everybody down to 16th in League 2 (Grimsby with 3/4 games in hand) could make the play offs if they can put a good run together.

The Tranmere fans at work (2 of) are noticeably much less chirpy about our visit than they have been for a few years.

Rochdale v Stockport tonight - Stockport go above us if they avoid defeat. Rochdale have only won once in the 15 games since they played us in November (away at Bradford), losing 10 of them. Jim Bentley sounded like someone had shot his dog after losing to Gillingham on Saturday. Stockport have won their last 4, 3 of those were at home, they've won 1 of their last 4 away.

Other games:
Grimsby v Harrogate
Hartlepool v Newport
Danny Johnson-less Walsall v Crewe. Walsall have only scored 3 times in the 7 games since Johnson left, winning none of them.

Stockport have sold out all the away end seats tonight, over 3000 of them

Rochdale are the worst team in the league and will be relegated.

Stockport going about their business under the radar. They're out biggest threat for 3rd I reckon.
