Sweeney did take charge of the situation. He may have made the wrong decision, but he did take charge. He screams at Stone to come out, and when he doesn’t he decides to shepherd it out for a goal kick, rather than conceded a throw in, which he would have done had Stone not got in the way.

I still think he’ll go on to have a good career if he can cut out the mistakes.

Don’t think so! He may end up in the National League as he is not good as Football League defender.

Hes more than good enough for the league. He'll get a league two club lower league one club easily I would think. Can seem him ending up at Wimbledon.

I agree, he is easily good enough at our level and could play at L1 too.

His concentration occasionally lets him down, but that goes for most lower league players. Put him in a side where the attackers are good enough to keep the opposition honest and he’ll flourish, like he did for us initially

All this blame about a goal that didn't matter! ... and to think we won 4-1! I suppose the reason why the spotlight has been shone so brightly on this one incident is due to the question of whether either player should be offered a contract for next season.

It was a mix-up followed by a collision: Sweeney could have hooked it out for a throw. However to be fair to him he probably would have successfully sheparded the ball out for a goal kick if Stone hadn't have belatedly interfered. In Stone's defence, he was initially back pedaling as it appeared that Sweeney had the situation under control, but then it was the wrong decision to suddenly try and rectify it in the manner that he did.
Lack of communication and leadership at the back has dogged us all season.
No matter - that goal means nothing ... and as Nigel said, that game didn't change his mind about contracts/players required for next season.
