If Southend win, they are 2 wins and 2 draws behind us in terms of points tally. I think all we need is a win to bat them away and see ourselves safe. They also have Colchester and Barrow yet to play. It could be an interesting run in for Southend.

Grimsby are down but I think Southend can stay up.. however it'll be Colchester who go down.

They have to play each other and it'll be one of those that go with Grimsby.

We will be out of the equation with about 3/4 games to go.

Very sad that we've only won 9 games though

Maximum is now down to 56 pts, we needed 13 pts to be mathematically safe before today, but now it is down to 11 pts.

Now maximum is down to 55 pts after Southend’s draw tonight. Ten points the gap now to safety.

Southend projected its based on PPG : 41

Based on us getting three points minimum out of our last 6 games, Southend will need 4 wins and a draw from their last 6.

To be fair to Grimsby you could have said that 8 games ago. To go that many games unbeaten has been an achievement, fortunately for us and others they have drawn too many, quite often from winning positions.

I think if Southend lose tonight they too are all but gone. Not sure why the bookies still have Oldham at 25/1 to be relegated being on 48 points already?

* William Hills *

Grimsby 1/14
Southend 1/14
Colchester 4/1
Walsall 16/1
Barrow 16/1
Oldham 25/1 ?
MANSFIELD 100/1
Scunthorpe 125/1

Rumour is that Oldham may be heading for administration, which I assume accounts for the price.

There’s a rumour afoot this morning that a league 2 club is set to go in to administration unless a rescue is found. Relegation lifeline for Barrow, Southend, and Grimsby. The club supposedly 30m in debt - all this according to James Goodwin, so nothing set in stone obviously.

If true who could be in that much debt? Oldham?

It looks like the shirt sponsors at Oldham and other sponsors have terminated their contracts with the club. A director has also resigned in support of he sponsors.

£30 million in debt!

Surely that could only be Bolton Wanderers.

Colchester are reportedly in 30 mil debt. Easy to see why given how professional theyre run

Interesting that James Goodwin does not mention Col U in his tweet when talking about clubs who could be given a lifeline. He mentions Grimsby, Southend and Barrow.

Didn't Mr Hymas recently quote Colchester as an example to follow in becoming a self sufficient club?

Speculating but it would also make sense as to why Sharpe/Clough have been fairly laid back about relegation. Maybe they've heard this coming? People in football tend to know what's going on elsewhere.

He doesn't mention us either. Could be us that are the £30m in debt.

My hunch is Oldham.

I'm told a L2 club are to be put into administration unless a rescue is found. £30m in debt, likely to hand a relegation lifeline to Southend, Barrow and Grimsby.

from James Goodwin

fans seem to think Colchester

Col U owe £26.3 million to Robbie Cowling's Aspire Media Group of companies according to accounts filed for 30th June 2020.

Robbie Cowling's Aspire Media Group's main business is recruitment services and so it will have been massively affected by the pandemic. It made a profit of £4 million in 2018-2019 but a loss of around £90,000 in 2019-2020.

£10 million was owed to creditors including £4.2 million for accruals and deferred income, £1.1 million tax and a £1.8 million loan owed to Robbie Cowling.

Thankfully everybody still needs car insurance.

If there is a club in danger the EFL and FA need to act swiftly so we don't get another Bury situation. They did similar with Macclesfield last season I guess however I think it would be appreciated if clubs knew what they needed to do to avoid relegation before the music stops.

I'd like to see how we would play if we ever get free of relegation mathematically, feels like the handbrake is on sometimes so would be nice to just play with a bit of freedom like we did when Clough first came in.

Might be completely unrelated, but the market for League 2 relegation has disappeared on Skybet from what I can see. Market still live for every other league.

Still live with some other bookmakers but wonder if the sponsors are hearing rumblings. Probably reading far too much in to it

Seems like they decided not to defer payments in a bid to not be saddled with future debts.
