Slightly lower than I thought. I was thinking around 2-2.

Jamie Reid's chance rated at 0.35. I'd put it higher than that.

Stephen Quinn's goal rated at 0.25 which is probably too high.

My educated guess is 1-1

To a football fan it was 1-1.
To a nerd it was 1.2 x 2.6xg - 0.35× 2-5

Disagree about us needing a new a new keeper next year ,maybe a new back up keeper ,stone is young but i dont think he is doing to much wrong ,yesterday he was let down by the defence ,again ,stick with him imo he is a very good young keeper

Can be worked on. His command of the area, catching and shotstopping are all good. I think he'll go on to be a top keeper tbh

His kicking errors yesterday were down to bobbles, whereas they haven’t been in the past.

His kicking in midweek was very good and set up a few chances.

I’m not convinced over his shot stopping ability. Brilliant save midweek aside, it does seem that any shot more than a yard either side of him goes in. Hopefully he will improve. I think he’ll be kept next season anyway, but we do need a proper keeper, as we have done for at least the last five years.

We have to let the lad grow ,he is a proper keeper ,he will grow in stature in the next couple of years if he gets the chance ,its worth the investment imo

Play him in the cups, give him chances of first choice is out of form, even get him a loan, but he’s not a first choice yet, IMO.

I would keep Stone as a no 2 but in reality he hasn't stepped up . Not dropped too many howlers but top league 2 keepers would have saved quite a few he's conceded ( including yesterday's )
His kicking leaves a lot to be desired too . Give him another year as a capable understudy and see where he is then .

Stone is a good keeper but we need to remember his age.

Technically he is already good enough to play at our level and with the support of one of the countries leading goalkeeper coaches (McDonagh) he will only get better. I honestly think he could go onto championship level.

As with any young player, he needs experience though. He has only played something like 20 senior games and still needs to go through all of the peaks and troughs of learning his job.

The question is really whether he is currently good enough to play in a promotion chasing side, which I don’t think he is. I would be happy to stick with Stone this season and then next season look to play him in all of our cup games.

If he spends another season or two being coached by McDonagh, learning from a good quality first choice keeper and getting plenty of first team exposure in the cups, then he could go on to be out no.1 for years to come or earn us a few quid in transfer fees.

Stone is one of our most improved players. His kicking yesterday was poor but the pitch didn’t help, neither did the defence with awkward back passes under pressure on a difficult surface.
Some people have short memories. He was the ‘best thing since sliced bread’ the other night after a wonder save rescued a point. Leave the lad alone, he’ll be here next season either as No.1 or a very good No.2

Hasn’t he already pretty much confirmed that he will be signing a keeper?

He has such potential. For me his issues are a lack of communication with the defenders, inconsistency in his kicking and the propensity for a silly mistake every now and then.
Ultimately it comes down to whether Seamus McDonagh believes that he can coach him to reduce these problems. He has probably come into the team a year early and is still young

Excellent post. You only have to look at Jordan Smith at Forest. I’m not sure he’s that much better than stone but has played a few times in the Championship.
