FT Harrogate 1-0 Carlisle.

Harrogate were impressive, with Josh March their standout player. Carlisle were awful.

I think Mr Drysdale might be in a bit of trouble.

Definitely looking like 2 from 3 at the bottom. Grimsby and Barrow for me. Think Southend will win enough at home to survive

Rowe scored soon after he came on.

Correction- Rowe assisted Vernam soon after coming on. About 1 minute! Cook had had two efforts on target just before being subbed.

would prefer southend was one of them.

Would be a shame to see barrow only have one season up here when it was ravaged by covid

We have 18 points from last 8 games which is beyond our wildest dreams. Amazingly we are only 2 points above 4th bottom. Imagine if we had lost just one game in the last 8. Or with mid table form of 11 points from 8 we would be adrift in the bottom four. The division from 7th to 21st has concertined with everything to play for

16/02/21: Harrogate Town 1 Carlisle United 0
Possession: 51:49%

This game was a throwback to the 1969 Eurovision Song Contest.

Boom -Bang-A-Bang, Boom-Bang-A-Bang, Josh Kayode long throw
Boom -Bang-A-Bang, Boom-Bang-A-Bang, Josh Kayode long throw
James Belshaw kicks straight to Lewis Alessandra who chips over bar.
Josh McPake shoots wide and Josh March misses from close range from a corner.
Great defensive header by Warren Burrell

Josh March runs into area and is tripped by Nick Anderton. Lulu scores the penalty.
Simon Power shot saved by Paul Farman and then tips Aaron Martin’s follow up header over bar.

Boom -Bang-A-Bang, Boom-Bang-A-Bang, Josh Kayode long throw
Lulu heads it off the line.
Paul Farman long kicks into penalty area x 4

Harrogate deserved to win it.

Harrogate MOM: Warren Burrell and Simon Power (Josh McPake and Josh March also played well)
Carlisle MOM: Paul Farman and Josh Kayode

Carlisle xG= Long Throws x 16 (14 taken by Josh Kayode and one each by Lewis Alessandra and Nick Anderton. Do they all practice in training?)

Another defeat for Champions Elect Carlisle United who have the best squad in League 2 and possibly League 1 and whose commentators have already been parading the trophy around Brunton Park.

the long throw appeared to be Carlisle's only tactic

It's a great tool when it works, you just look tinpot if you constantly rely on long throws to create chances and score goals and don't score!

it is. Cheltenham have made the best use of it this season I think, with a remarkable number of goals created from it, mostly by Will Boyle.

Feedback from some Carlisle fans on Facebook:

"Come on Chris , this is the first time in a long time I’ve disagreed with you it was not a tight game.. we we’re bloody awful from the first whistle , no fight no control , lack of composure and we just went with hump ball and fruitless long throws for 90 minutes .... it was utter garbage. If we play like this on Saturday we will get a thumping at Salford"

"That was abysmal from start to finish. Yes we have had postponements and you expect to be a bit rusty, but that hoof ball was inexcusable, subs were ineffective and the long throw baffles me. Farman the only player coming out of that with any credit. No excuses for the lack of desire and ability to do the basics. Hopefully a wake up call."

"And to think we gave this manager a contract extension. Our last two performances are as poor as it gets. Someone needs to tell him it's not a crime to have our players pass the ball to each other."

"Absolutely Disgraceful performance we were totally dreadful and no way this team is gonna go up in my opinion, pitch was dreadful but both for same teams , humping the ball aimlessly and relying on long throws that weren’t that long ,,where do we go from here , I know we’ve hardly played since Xmas but we showed no fight at all .... we looked like a team totally bereft of ideas.... embarrassing performance"
