Very excited by this manager and his team

Me too. Funny how the mindset changes. From sheer panic to overwhelming positive vibes. Results above seem to be going well for us. Lots of draws today. I can see us catching up with 7th. Let’s face it, you only need to better their points tally by 2-3 points a month and you’re in the playoffs, assuming you also pick up on 8th-12th placed teams. This beats being worried :P COYS.

Yep AWC etc you and i said we would not be relegated

Anyone with half a brain knew we were never gonna be relegated, the mere fact it was brought up with NC in charge was preposterous.
These are my opinions , if you don't like them I have others...

Had we kept GC as manager we would have been a serious contender for relegation. Of that I've no doubt.

Erm, We got rid of GC because we were winless and clueless at the bottom of the league... We were relegation fodder. Not now we've got big Nige that's for sure.

16/01/21: Barrow 1 Scunthorpe United 0 (HT: 0-0)
Possession: 46:54%

A Josh Kay goal in the 2nd half gave Barrow a vital 3 points in a tight nervy game between two sides at the bottom. Scunthorpe probably deserved a point but Barrow are the biggest under achievers in the xG League 2 table by a massive 16 points and deserve a break. They certainly deserved a point at Southend last week but lost 1-0 to an early goal.

Neal Eardley made his debut at right back for Barrow and had a really good game. His set pieces will be very useful. Scott Quigley was a handful up front and won numerous free kicks. He lured Junior Brown into a wrestling match in the 87th minute which ended up with Junior being sent off for a second yellow card. He would be a good replacement for Tom Pope at Port Vale. Joel Dixon had a good game in goal for Barrow and made good saves from Jem Karacan and Abo Eisa.

Barrow were the better team in the 1st half and were dangerous from Neal Eardley's corners and free kicks. The best chance was probably a Matt Platt header from a corner. They scored the winning goal in the 58th minute. Lewis Hardcastle played the ball down the right. Luke James beat George Taft to the ball and played it inside to Harrison Biggins who rolled it across the area to Josh Kay who curled a shot into the far corner. It was Barrow's only shot on target. Kay is a good player but didn't have his best game today.

There was a long delay when Luke James was knocked out in an aerial collision with Jordan Clarke and he had to be stretchered off. This resulted in 15 minutes added time. Scunthorpe came out of their shell after going behind and had chances to equalise. New signing, Jem Karacan, played well in the holding midfield position. They also actually played better after Junior had been sent off but Barrow managed to hang on for the vital win.

Barrow MOM: Neal Eardley and Joel Dixon. (Sponsors gave it to Lewis Hardcastle)
Scunthorpe MOM: Jem Karacan and Jordan Clarke

Our game gets called off and the other results have us drop 1 place in the table. I'm happy with that. Looking at the table there 3 teams below us with games in hand that can catch us with them. They've got to win them, they are Bradford, Harrogate and Tranmere.

Tranmere have the same number of points as us. Harrogate are 4 off us and Bradford 5. We don't play any of them until the end of February. By that point the games COULD be all caught up.

I'm probably remembering wrong but weren't Newport in a similar position to us a couple of seasons ago then they made a late surge for the play offs?

About to watch Southend vs Cambridge.

Southend have only lost once in their last eight league games.

No Hoolahan for Cambridge as well. They’re a team over performing at the moment.

Newport keeper, Tom King, has given Newport the lead at Cheltenham from a goal kick which bounced over Josh Griffiths in the Cheltenham goal.

Southend playing for set pieces in the Cambridge half and Greg Halford is hurling long throw missiles into the Cambridge box. A big threat. 0-0 after 25 minutes but Southend could be 2 up.

Cambridge level out of the blue with a great shot. Southend could have been out of sight in the first half.

Southend 1-2 Cambridge. Cambridge in front as Mullin crosses and Ironside taps in. Great play from Mullin.

I bet Southend, Cheltenham will be like watching Barce, Real. Don't bother cutting the grass.
