A bad mistake by Aidan Stone but he made two tremendous saves and the save at the end from Danny Rowe's header was top top class. His kicking was loads better than Marek Stech's as well. Well played Aidan. Hold your head up high son.

Kellan Gordon and Stephen McLoughlin were at fault for the first Oldham goal as well. Kellan Gordon let Conor McAleny get in behind him and Stephen McLaughlin should have blocked Alfie McCAlmont's shot.

A 3-2 away win at Oldham. First win at Boundary Park since 1978. Nigel Clough is God.

Can't beat reading all the comments on Stagsnet with a celebratory pint or two of real ale after another Stags win.

A pint of what he had please

but has he checked his PMs ? lol

That was the worst free kick since someone put one over the away end at Accrington Stanley. Was it Chris Clements?

Looks like a 3 with Bowery and Reid dropping back occasionally and cook staying forward.

Dean is right that were not winning any battle in the middle, crazy how much were missing Ollie

I disagree. I thought we won the midfield battle all game. George Maris was excellent in the holding midfield position.

We controlled the game after we changed formation around 10/15 mins in.

I thought they all played really well tonight after the mistakes for the first Oldham goal.

Started the game 442 it seemed and quickly switched to 433 when we realised it wasn’t working. Credit for Clough for changing that quickly as it enabled us to get a foothold in the first half rather than wasting it hoping it would come good.

Kellan Gordon had a massive impact on the game. He let Conor McAleny get in behind him for the first goal and also let Borthwick-Jackson get in behind him early in the second half but he was our main attacking threat all night. He must have put in around 15 crosses from the right. I was amazed that Harry Kewell continued to allow him loads of space to get forward. George Maris just kept playing the ball out to Kellan Gordon on the right every time.

My MOM were George Maris and Kellan Gordon.

Great play by Jamie Reid. Bullied Borthwick-Jackson off the ball and a pinpoint finish.

Very good defending and play between Jordan Bowery and Ryan Sweeney which allowed Jordan Bowery to knock the ball up the pitch to Jamie Reid.

Yep I agree. Also not sure if anyone has read Cloughie's post match comments, but how he describes Stone's performance is class, he basically singled him out for praise for the save at the end.

Bang on Johan and as Sam (Mansfield Musings) has pointed out that makes it P7 W5 D2 L0 in the league with George Maris in the holding midfield position. The Cambridge commentators said he was wasted in the holding midfield role. They said he could do a job but was much better as an attacking midfield player.

We were all generally happy with his GC’s recruitment in the summer and I amongst a few others always maintained that the squad was good enough to compete. He was just a poor manager. I suspect it was more to do with man management than tactics to be honest.

Still some work to be done on the squad though and I’m excited to see who Cloughie brings in

I thought the full backs played that far up field tonight that the formation was akin to 2-5-3.

Couldnt watch tonite due to being on nights... But just sat down to read the match thread on me break.. Hilarious how it goes from suicide on page 3 to elation on page 16
At one point we were even playing in the national league next season i think!.
Having not watched im interested to hear peoples views on tonites team/formation... If perch and clarke were fit for Saturday would you play them or stick with a winning team?
Did Stone do enough to dis-lodge old flapper? (apart from the obvious mistake).
