"Grimsby Town have signed former Lincoln City left-back Sam Habergham on a contract until the end of the season. The 28-year-old helped the Imps to promotion to the English Football League in 2017, but he has not played since April 2018 because of a serious knee injury. The former Norwich City, Tamworth and Braintree defender is new Grimsby manager Paul Hurst's first signing.
"We have been impressed with how fit he is," said Hurst.

Big signing for Bolton Wanderers

"Kieran Lee signs for Bolton from Sheff Wed. The experienced midfielder has been on trial with Wanderers for the past several weeks. The 32 year-old began his career with Manchester United having come through their youth system. He scored on his debut for the Red Devils when he came off the bench to net the winner in a League Cup tie against Crewe Alexandra during the 2006/07 season. Lee was loaned out to QPR in 2008 and made eight appearances for them before signing a two-year contract at Oldham Athletic. Making over 100 appearances for the Boundary Park side, he turned down the offer of a new deal to join Sheffield Wednesday in 2012. At Hillsborough, Lee featured in over 200 games for The Owls in all competitions and netted 22 goals.

Wanderers manager Ian Evatt added: “I am delighted to sign Kieran who I feel is a real coup for the club and a statement signing. He is a very classy and experienced footballer, and is just the right character we want at Bolton Wanderers Football Club. I’d like to thank the Board for their support in getting this deal completed.”

He hasn’t played with any regularity for Wednesday for about 3 years. 18 month contract too, it’s a terrible signing.

Kieran Lee made 20(8) league starts for Sheffield Wednesday in 2019-2020. His last game for them was on 22nd July 2020.

Yes it is unusual Sparky but Nigel did actually tell us that there would be no signings before the cup match. Another good example of managing fans expectations as demonstrated by the lack of the clock. It does make you wonder why such a simple tactic hasn’t been employed before.

Maybe it isn't a tactic but the honest truth.

I think we all agree that due to financial regulations the spending of money is tight, therefore any incomers have to be balanced by outgoings. So we have maybe three players eligible to play in the FA Cup going out and three players, some of which may be cup tied or their current clubs still in the competition, coming in.

Nigel decides to wait, play the cup tie, then sort out who comes in after, makes sense?

And maybe most people are confident that Nigel will do the right thing at the right time and in the right way.

I see Mr Evans is starting to come under a bit of pressure at Gillingham. Lost at home to Burton today.

WHAT!! you mean he's not added to his list of promotions at another club. Think he's past his sell by date as a manager now.

No matter what people think of Evans, saying he failed at Stags is childish.

How didn’t he fail? He had a massive budget and was tasked to get us promoted. He finished 12th one season and bottled it the next

Think you’re confusing your Evans and Flitcrofts. Bottling it doesn’t mean being poached by a team in a higher division because of the good job you’re doing. However throwing away promotion twice with the biggest budget in the clubs history definitely IS bottling it. But then you know that and are clearly fishing.

What did he achieve, apart from denting JR's wallet ?
