From D3D4

"Grimsby Town are looking at signing former Lincoln defender Sam Habergham (28) who is on trial with the League Two club. The left-back is hoping to kick start his career after a serious knee injury left him without a side and looking at early retirement from the game. Habergham came through the ranks at Norwich City before moving on to Tamworth and then enjoying an excellent four-year stint with Braintree. Danny Cowley would bring the player with him to Sincil Bank and he went on to win promotion with the Imps in this first season at the club. He played 33 times for Lincoln in League Two but his career took an unfortunate turn due to a serious knee injury which would later require surgery. He was released by the club in the summer of 2019 having not managed a single appearance during the 2018-19 campaign."

That’s bad news for Danny Preston.

I’ll give Coughlan his credit. Most of his signings are proving to be decent players for us and it was probably the revolution we needed to start moving on from the Flitcroft era.

There are a few who Clough doesn’t seem to fancy. I’m guessing that Meneyese, O’Driscoll, O’Keefe are moved on in this window. I’d like to see more of O’Keefe but not sure where he fits?

Either Maynard of Cook will probably go to (preferably Maynard IMO)

I agree most are good signings on paper and are showing how good they can be with a good manager.

I think O'Keefe will get a chance at some point, he's a very promising player for the future. Same with Rollin and possibly James Clarke... if any leave I can only see it being a loan.

McLaughlin is one id get rid of but he's been given a longer deal and then not played so a funny one.

Out permanently I can see and kind of hope its Cook and Maynard and can see Jason Law going possibly Smith making his loan permanent.

That would really help the next Port Vale manager to make a fresh start.

It's always hard for a manager when he has to drop or release "a legend" especially when the team are not winning

At 35 he's a bit like Maynard, dangerous player but past their best.
Both have not pulled up any trees this season, but both could score a hat trick before end of season.

What people have got to realise is that the pitches will get even worse, we will inevitably get injuries so therefore getting rid of players may make us short. There’s no good getting rid just for the sake of it. We need two players per position minimum so there’s no point leaving us short.

I'm just going on Cloughs 3-4 in and 3-4 out comments. I don't think we necessarily need two per position as we have a couple of versatile players who can fill in in multiple areas.

Its about balancing injuries against wages and keeping players happy with game time.

From BBC

"Harrogate Town have signed young midfielder William Hondermarck on loan from Championship side Norwich City until the end of the season. The 20-year-old began his senior career with Drogheda United before moving to the Canaries in January 2019. He has a big future ahead of him. He's big and different than what we have in midfield," said boss Simon Weaver. "He's someone with a really long stride but he's a graceful player who will get box to box and make it happen."

"Cambridge United have signed defender Jubril Okedina on loan from Premier League side Tottenham until the end of the season. The versatile 20-year old, who normally plays at right-back or centre-back, joins the League Two club after signing a new deal with Spurs until 2022. Okedina has yet to make a senior first-team appearance for the London club."

"Bradford City captain Richard O'Donnell will be out for up to 12 weeks with a torn thigh muscle. The 32-year-old goalkeeper, who joined the Bantams in 2018, has kept five clean sheets in 24 appearances for the League Two club this season."

Not necessarily, small squads often can't do this and you have to make do with players that can play in more than one position.

Clearly a few players need to leave in order for some to come in, well going off what Nigel has said

"Forest Green Rovers have signed centre half Baily Cargill from MK Dons on an 18-month contract. The 25-year-old made 68 appearances for the League One Dons after joining from Bournemouth in August 2018. The fee for Cargill's move to the New Lawn has not been disclosed."We're delighted to get Baily across the line so quickly. He was our number one target to replace Liam Kitching and he's going to be a great player for us," said Rovers boss Mark Cooper."

Paul Cox loses a defender to Harrogate Town......"Harrogate Town have signed Kettering defender Jay Williams. The 20-year-old started his career with Northampton Town, before joining National League outfit Wealdstone in the summer. He moved on to National League North side Kettering in November."

"Morecambe have signed Blackburn Rovers midfielder Brad Lyons on loan until the end of the season. The 23-year-old has yet to make his senior debut for Rovers, having moved to Ewood Park from Coleraine in September 2018. The Northern Irishman had a spell with St Mirren in the second half of the 2018-19 campaign, scoring once in 15 league outings."

"Southend United have signed Portsmouth forward Reeco Hackett-Fairchild on loan until the end of the season. The 22-year-old spent the first half of the campaign with National League side Bromley, scoring twice in 11 league outings for the Ravens. Hackett-Fairchild has only featured once for Pompey since moving to Fratton Park from Bromley last January."

"Bradford City have signed goalkeeper Will Huffer from National League North club Bradford (Park Avenue), with the terms of the transfer undisclosed. The 22-year-old has agreed a deal until the end of the season with the Bantams. The former Leeds United man had joined Park Avenue in November. Huffer made one senior appearance for Leeds, against Bristol City in the Championship in November 2018, and also had a short loan spell with Barnet during the 2018-19 campaign."

"Declan John signs for Bolton Wanderers on loan from Swansea City until the end of the season. The 25 year-old defender was born in Merthyr Tydfil and progressed through Cardiff City’s Academy, making his debut for the Bluebirds in 2012 and played in the Premier League. After loan spells with Barnsley, Chesterfield and Rangers, he made a permanent switch to Ibrox in 2017. He made 31 appearances for Rangers before signing a 3 year deal at Swansea in the summer of 2018. The left-wing back is a Welsh international, having earned seven caps for his country at the senior level."

Can’t find this? Can’t see why we would be after another central midfielder.

Maybe as cover, we only have two and they looked tired for the last 15 mins against Salford. With matches coming thick and fast injuries will appear and Yellow cards tot up.

Two? We’ve been plying with three on the pitch the last few weeks  we also have Charsley and Perch who can cover there, as well as O’Driscoll.

I can’t find the twitter rumour anyway.

J Russell is a forward come winger in his Derby days, And Mansfield cannot afford a 22 man first team squad and Clough does not like big first team squads , he likes people who are utility players, Quality not quantity, this also leaves room for the younger players to be involved.

Funny that because we’ve been able to afford squads closer to 30 first team players in recent years.

"Carlisle United have signed former Crewe Alexandra striker Offrande Zanzala on a deal until the end of the current League Two season. The 24-year-old was released by the Alex last weekend having played just 10 games this term, following his move to Gresty Road in the off-season. Derby academy product Zanzala scored 15 goals in 66 matches for Accrington before his switch to Crewe. Breaking through at Derby, he was a player with the physical attributes, pace and power - added to the knack of getting a goal - that made him stand out."

"Leeds United have loaned winger Jordan Stevens to West Yorkshire neighbours Bradford City for the remainder of the League Two season. Gloucester-born Stevens, 20, was recalled from League One side Swindon Town, for whom he scored one goal in 15 games in the first part of the season. He has been limited to just six first-team matches for his parent club since joining from Forest Green in 2018. Interim manager Mark Trueman said: "He is a very talented player - with raw pace and a naturally direct edge to his play"
